A deck idea I've been playing around with for a bit since Athreos came out. I'm hoping on getting this to a competitive level of play while still on a budget and what I have lying around.

Athreos is the key card here, using it more as an enchantment than creature. I want to abuse it using Loyal Sentry and Death Cultist (creature control and pinging my opponent respectively), along with boosting creatures like Champion of the Parish and Ob Nixilis, Unshackled should I sideboard it in.

Also incorporating some control to make sure I can make it through to the late game should it happen. Tidehollow Sculler to keep cards out of my opponent's hand, Inquisition of Kozilek/ Appetite for Brains plus Extirpate to pick apart my opponent's game plan from the early game, Silence along with Eidolon of Rhetoric to make sure I can do what I can when I can without interference.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Purchased some Extirpates online and waiting for those to come in to change out with something in the deck, but won't know for what until they come in; they might replace two of the 1-of's and the pair of Blind Obedience.

Taking user Shill's advice and considering putting a playset of Doomed Traveler in the main deck.

Added an additional Ob Nixilis, Unshackled and two more Silence to help with more control until I can chain Death Cultist off of Athreos, God of Passage and Ob Nixilis.
