No Zurgo Helmsmasher ?? I would drop a Mogis, God of Slaughter and a Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker . He is indestructible on your turn so he won't be affected by board sweeps, and he is a pretty big threat.

Except that this is a control deck and I have no desire to really use Zurgo. He's a totally great card but not for this build. He doesn't help control the board and I want my threats to be much harder to remove. If he's indestructible on my turn that doesn't save him from End Hostilities or just a main phase spot removal.

This is going to be the deck that I will be running starting september 28th. I have all the cards so mainly I am just looking for recommendations.

If you would like to take a look at it and consider the midrange option of Mardu take a peek and tell me what you think :)

Hi, I like the deck but apart from thoughtseize you are seriously lacking some early plays, if RDW and MB aggro can win by turn 4/5 you might want to add some Pharika's Cure/Last Breath.

Yea I've been testing the deck and considering some Lightning Strike or similar

Drown in Sorrow the scry really helps the control deck set up early

This looks absolutely disgusting to play against.

I like your deck a lot and have almost all the cards to build it. One thing I noticed is even with the best case scenario of Planeswalkers and Gods on the field, you still won't have enough Devotion to get Mogis, God of Slaughter online so he can swing as a creature. I understand if that's not a concern because his passive fits perfect in this deck.

@Harvey In the RTR-Theros getting Mogis online was plenty possible with Underworld Connections and so on, but the lack of good devotion enablers now has lead me to be unconcerned with turning a god on.

I'm also of the mind that it needs some more early-turn plays. And why is Sorin in here at all? I think you could gain a lot but dropping one each of End Hostilities and the two planeswalkers (maybe not Sarkhan though). You have inevitability with control, no need to stuff your deck full of win-cons. Maybe main some Anger of the Gods and /or Bile Blight instead? And what about card-draw? Sign in Blood might be worth it, since you can even use it to shock them for the last few points if need be.

Thanks for the suggestions Much :) After a lot of testing I've decided to cut Sorin, Solemn Visitor as he just doesn't do enough. I'm also cutting Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker to 2 copies as Elspeth, Sun's Champion is a better win-condition and he doesn't help me control the board enough to be a full 4.
I'm keep the full playset of End Hostilities mainboard because my local meta is currently heavily Temur beatdown and Abzan midrange (if there was more aggro Mardu decks I'd definitely be moving Anger of the Gods to the mainboard). But I am taking your suggestion of Bile Blight and have added 2 to the mainboard. I will see how that plays out.
For card advantage, I'm adding back in the full playset of Read the Bones as I prefer the scry effect over Sign's ability to ping opponents.
Thanks for the advice again.

Looks good. Would definitely recommend some more Drown in Sorrow either MB or SB. It'll really help you out in those aggro matchups and the scry is always nice. Plus it's not like the -2/-2 hurts you so it's completely one sided.

That's why I have Anger of the Gods in the SB. The extra point of damage (and the exile vs Bloodsoaked Champion ) is better I've found than the scry from Drown.

I will post a deck tech after the set is released and full rotation is in effect.
