My take on simic evolve. I'm actually having same thoughts turning it into modern: Mr. Darwin would be proud

Thanks for your suggestions Luutamo! I modified the deck using some of your suggestions.
I also saw your deck and it seems pretty good! I think it would be a good modern deck.

Simic evolve was the first major mechanic I played with when I picked MTG back up a couple years ago. After playing some modern myself, I decided that some of my favorite cards like Cloudfin Raptor and Fathom Mage were too slow... in fact, most of the evolve mechanic is too slow since it takes time to build up and there are plenty of modern decks that can have you beat by the third or fourth turn. I don't want to discourage you, not by any means, but there are so many challenges in modern that this deck will face along with all the cheap removal... I just haven't figured out a good way to make it viable yet.
- I recommend Experiment One for the main instead of those Bramblewood Paragons (too situational, and pretty worthless on its own, especially with no other warriors), and Syncopate or Negate in the sideboard instead of Spell Rupture (what if you don't have a creature?).

Thanks for your comment thewyzman!
-> I don't usually have problems with Cloudfin Raptor and Fathom Mage has already proved to me that it can be very useful and has a good synergy in the deck, but yes, I recognize that she is slow.
-> This deck is modern but it's not intended too be championship competitive, but at least, fun to play without being to weak. I like the evolve mechanic and the Simic theme, so I'm keeping it with evolve.
->Bramblewood Paragon is one of those cards that I still don't know if I remove or not. She's here mostly for the 2 turn drop + possible evolve and she gives trample to everyone with a +1/+1 counter, but I'll run some tests with Experiment One and see what's the better deal.

I think you'd actually be even better off with all 4x Omenspeakers than having those two Paragons, for the scry and to help trigger the evolves while also giving you a blocker to help you curve into your higher drops. Most recently, as you probably know, Crowned Ceratok was used for global trample like Sapphire Drake (too inefficient for modern) and flying. Now in standard we have Tuskguard Captain (who makes his own counters) and Longshot Squad for trample and reach.
If it's synergy you're looking for here, Kiora's Follower lets you untap lands, Vorel, even the Bow!

I would recommend that you throw in some creatures with the "graft" ability they synergize well with the evolve mechanic

Can you graft counters onto a creature as it enters, thus making it bigger as it lands, triggering evolves easier? Or are you referring to the ones with abilities like Novijen Sages?

thewyzman I don't think that cheathing evolve with graft works.
If you have a creature on the battlefield with graft and another with evolve (eg: Cloudfin Raptor without any counter on it) and play another Cloudfin Raptor and graft it, it won't evolve the one that is already on the battlefield, since the raptor you just played enters the battlefield as a 0/1 creature and you'll move the +1/+1 counter from the creature with graft only after that.
In this deck I use draft to combo with Hardened Scales and Doubling Season, and mainly to use Cytoplast Root-Kin
+
Renegade Krasis
to put a bunch of +1/+1 counter on the majority of my creatures at once.

Good deck! +1 Prophet of Kruphix and Murkfiend Liege would be my only suggestions so you can defend against creature decks and still attack.

Thanks for the suggestion Mdmaster13!
I shall run some tests with it and see if it works on my deck :)

magickid746 thanks for your suggestion!
I had Simic Manipulator before, but most of the times I couldn't use him as I wish, so I removed it.

The first thing I see when looking at this deck is consistency, where is it! You need a lot more consistency with an evolve deck. Ive been messing with the evolve mechanic for a while and the one thing that hinders it is your creatures have to evolve in the perfect order, you need to make it as consistent as possible. Id work on figuring out what to take out so you can have more 4 of and 3 of in your deck. All tournament level decks usually only have 11 to 13 different cards in the deck... you have 19. Thats a HUGE difference in consistency of a deck. If you want help with what to pull out I can help but Ill leave it up to you first to see what you come up with.
