This deck is well built but if I were you, I wouldn't run 3 Akroan Horse but I would run 3 copies of Wall of Fire, it is 3 mana, it is a 0/5 and you can use its effect to block and use one mana or more to give some attack when you block and you can get rid of your opponent's creatures.

I really liked the akroan horse addition to this deck, but as everyone is hating on it I guess is time to dismantle it a find a more worthy friend for my deck. I am going to leave the deck list as it is for now but will try out suggestions :) shinobigarth I really like the humble defector idea it could be a very useful addition to this deck. nastolnaya I had considered that card originally it could be useful but at the same time I don't really want my opponents creatures dying as that is where the damage is coming from. Maybe a sideboard option?

well its just that they cant attack with the Horse, and the 1/1s you get dont really do anything for this build other than act as chump blockers. if you had some crazy way for you to end up controlling it so they get the 1/1s maybe.

this deck's concept is very cool. i can't wait to try it out. i am kinda getting back into magic, and i am fairly new to the modern format.

The best sideboard options are Chandra, the Firebrand (Core Set M13) and a Sarkhan, the Dragonslayer (Khans). They are budget mythics, my mono red burn runs one of each and they worked. For a deck like this, it can be an asset.

Even the original Liliana Vess is an asset because you are running black. The effects are very good, especially if your opponent has got rid of your creatures, using the third effect can bring them all back. It is another budget mythic, from magiccardmarket is less than 3 euros. What do you think?

after playing it, here are my thoughts...Liliana of the Veil can be a pain, she can make your enchants on creatures go bye, bye...this deck in general is not good against sacrificial creatures...but other than that, i love it

i feel like you should have Leyline of Sanctity in the side board... Lightning Bolts are a pain

nastolnaya I am not sure about the chandra, yeah it could deal with an aggro situation but I don't think it would be worth it. I think Anger of the Gods would be a better option? Definitely not the sarkhan, I dont see how that woukd fit in at all. I see why Liliana vessel might be useful but I don't think it's worth it for a -8 ability and a 5 drop at that.

I am looking at changing my Synod Sanctum in my sideboard though, if you have any suggestions for maybe dealing with people destroying the enchantments that woukd be very useful as I can't seem to find anything in the colours I am using :)

Foxigami welcome to modern, it's disgusting :) I am not if you have misunderstood the concept of this deck but the last thing I want to do is have my opponent sacrifice there enchanted creatures because that is where all the damage from this deck comes from! Also this deck is budget and that particular lilianer costs a horrible amount of money. (Worth it in the right deck)

I really like the idea of leyline sanctuary, but I think it is to risky to play as I have no white in this deck, thinking maybe some Witchbane Orb's could help. (Or an alright sideboard against this deck) lol. Yeah lightning bolt is a great card was thinking about just chuck ing 4 in there but decided against it in the end.

kinda wondering why Curse of Bloodletting is in here? it doesnt do anything for making the life loss double as life loss is not damage.

Sgt_St0n3r says... #11

I can see what you are saying, but if you look up the rulings on damage it states 'Damage is the destruction a creature, plans walker or player may suffer. Basically damage is damage.

November 8, 2016 12:33 p.m.

shinobigarth says... #12

yeah.....but life loss still isn't damage. Bloodletting triggers on DAMAGE, thats a creature dealing damage to the player, or you hitting them with a damage spell. your enchantments cause them to LOSE LIFE. while damage results in loss of life happening, losing life from the enchantments is still not damage and thus wont cause Bloodletting to trigger.

if you still don't believe me, feel free to ask in Q&A. because if you play this deck in a sanctioned event and try to use Bloodletting to double the life loss, you're gonna get called out on it.

Ah fair enough then I just always thought it is the kind of 'tomato/tomato' sort of thing, oh well I only have one in there so it's not the end of the world. Cheers for the knowledge :)

I'm loving this deck for the tricky nature and the cheap price. I'll be looking at this very closely so I can play it for myself! (Sorry this wasn't the most productive comment, I'm still kind of new to the game but recognition was in order. :) )

like70bunnies thank you for the comment, feel free to upvote if you like it :D . I am glad this deck inspires new players. Yeah the cost of this deck is one of the best things about it. So many times I've looked at a deck and gone 'I love this!!' then check the price, $600 :O but with this one pretty much anyone can buy it :)

Like the deck but it can't win a control deck :/

Sgt_St0n3r says... #19

Haa! Your not wrong lol, to be fair though there is not much that can beat a solid control Deck, makes me sick.

shinobigarth says... #20

you might think about Corrupted Roots and Pooling Venom in sideboard against control. because you'll want to swap out most of the creature auras since they wont be playing many creatures but they will need to tap lands of course.

Yeah that's a good idea man cheers for that :)

I did some playtesting with this deck, and it seems to me that its weakest point is its land base. Have you considered adding something like two Dragonskull Summit and two Bloodfell Caves? The addition would keep the price of the deck under $20, two taplands isn't going to destroy your game strategy, and you honestly need the manafixing.

November 10, 2016 3:31 p.m. Edited.

Sgt_St0n3r says... #23

Yeah I get what you are saying completely, and you are right the only reason I only have basic lands is to keep the cost as low as possible!! I have recently been looking at non basics for cheap with G (for Wall of Tanglecord) so that I can deal with flying without ruining the mana, or sideboard. Suggestions on that :)

November 10, 2016 3:54 p.m.

shinobigarth says... #24

You should at least have a few tap lands or basic fetches though to help fix.

November 10, 2016 5:09 p.m.

Why not include Consulate Skygate? It would cure your reach problem.
