I try to name all my Delver decks after Firefly. It's pretty awesome.

Isn't Hurkyl's Recall superior to ancient grudge for you? It's modern legal from 10th.

Also, if you're going the destruction route, maybe Shatterstorm? And Go for the Throat vs. Eldrazi. I like that you use Geth's Verdict, though. So underrated.
January 30, 2015 10:13 a.m.
Shatterstorm is a 2-of in my sideboard already. Geth's Verdict is just an amazing card. It's won me so many games I would've lost without it. As for Go for the Throat and the Eldrazi thing, I don't really think I need it. I have Terminate, Geth's Verdict, counter spells for the ones that can be countered, and just old fashioned racing.
I ran Hurkyl's Recall in the TC version of the deck, and I just forgot about it. I could switch Ancient Grudge over to it, but is 4 slots devoted to Affinity too much?

Some board wipes are always good in a not-so creature based deck
January 31, 2015 3:26 p.m.
Don't confuse this with control. The goal of the deck is get out either Delver of Secrets Flip turn one or Young Pyromancer around turn 2-3 and ride them to victory. A board wipe would be terrible here. I'm so threat light that a board wipe would easily put me out of the game.
Thanks for the suggestion, though.

Nice deck, +1 from me!
If you don't mind me asking, how did you construct your sideboard. What helped you decide what to run / what not to run. I am fairly new to MTG but love UB delver in modern, but I am struggling a lot with my sideboard, mainly because of inexperience.
What are the bad matchups for delver and what out of your sideboard beats them? Basically, roughly what do you side in or out for each matchup?
I hope it isn't an issue to share, but no problem if it's too much work. I'm asking a lot. Thanks!

@Figag Sideboard:
Dragon's Claw Burn is Delver's worst matchup, so this card is a must.
Shatterstorm Affinity is a stupid deck.
Spellskite Let's me take less damage from Burn, steals stuff from Bogles and Infect, and is good against Twin.
Flashfreeze Two mana hard counter that has a lot of targets.
Negate It's pretty versatile, cheap on the mana, and effective.
Olivia Voldaren Grindy matchups like Abzan, Jund, and control are an issue. A resolved Olivia is a huge threat.
Monastery Siege Also for the grindy matchups, but has the added benefit of being useful against burn. This slot could also be Jace, Architect of Thought.
Izzet Staticaster Good against Abzan's Lingering Souls, B/W Tokens and other x/1s. Has the addedd benefit of killing Twin's Pestermite and Snapcaster Mage in games 2 and 3.
Anger of the Gods The Collected Company decks are a problem. This helps.
Gitaxian Probe and Electrolyze come out most often when I am sideboarding. Spell Snare and Spell Pierce come out depending on how good it is in a given matchup.
Matchups:
Abzan and Jund are terrible matchups. Their disruption is extremely good against us. I board out -3 Gitaxian Probe for Olivia Voldaren, Monastery Siege, and Negate if it's Abzan and Flashfreeze if it's Jund.
Burn. Just hope you don't face it. It's by far the worst matchup. I remove 4 Gitaxian Probe and 1 Electrolyze for Negate, Flashfreeze, 2 Dragon's Claw, and 1 Monastery Siege.
Swarm decks like B/W Tokens, elves, or Collected Melira. I bring in Anger of the Gods for each of these decks. For Tokens, I side in Izzet Staticaster. For Elves and Melira Combo, I board Flashfreeze.
This is just a general summary, but I hoped it helped.

Thanks a lot! It is definitely helpful. So Abzan and Burn are the decks to prepare for?
I play UB delver instead of grixis (playing without red is very interesting), but enjoy it a lot. Surprisingly, burn is about 50/50 in game 1 and only better in games 2 and 3 for my deck, which is really weird. Abzan is a pain and it's also really common in my meta, so I agree that I need to prepare for it.
Thanks for the advice though! It helps a lot!

I think my advantage against burn is because I have a lot of lifelink creatures - 4 Vampire Nighthawk and 2 Liliana Heretical Healer (it's a new card coming out in Origins). It isn't too hard of a match if I hit a few counters and a removal spell.

too much? Man, it had ALL OF THE FEELS. (except the badass scene with River and the reavers and them trying to force feels by killing someone we'd never heard of until the movie began)
