I tried to make my first Simic deck, went with the +1/+1 counters. The main combos are: Sharktocrab + Forgotten Ancient OR any creature with a +1/+1 counter with Simic Guildmage creates a tapping mechanism where enemy creates won't be able to untap. Vorel of the Hull Clade + Zegana, Utopian Speaker will create a huge creature with trample. Lorescale Coatl gets pumped every turn and every drawn card, so Opt can be used as pump spell. As a surprise finisher Hinterland Harbor can end games in one turn.

Master Biomancer is pretty insane, and will probably draw out all removal spells opponents have, but if he sticks, all your creatures will become huge. Even weak creatures like Arboreal Grazer can become quite a threat in the mid game, and a nice blocker in early game

For ramp I use Arboreal Grazer, Ordeal of Nylea and Jiang Yanggu, Wildcrafter that will turn every creature with a counter into a mana dork.
