Maybeboard

This is my newest effort to make a thematic Nicol Bolas deck still function correctly. While containing a few combos and slightly expensive pieces (looking at you, Vampiric Tutor and Demonic Tutor ), the deck itself is geared for a more casual meta. However, I am a firm believer that casual does not necessarily have to mean bad.

I’ll eventually organize a primer of sorts once I get more tests and edits done.

It goes for either Worldgorger Dragon + Animate Dead / Necromancy or Isochron Scepter + Dramatic Reversal for infinite mana. Do note that the Worldgorger line HAS to have another creature in the graveyard to actually facilitate a win, otherwise it ends the game in a draw because it has no other target and isn’t stoppable. From there, though, you can win in several ways;

-Play The Locust God , loot your deck, play Laboratory Maniac , loot to win.

-Play The Locust God , loot until you get Echo of Eons , then loot your deck until you get Call to Mind to loop your deck and make infinite hasty, flying 1/1 insects.

-With The Chain Veil and infinite activations from either mana combo: play Bolas, draw your deck, play Laboratory Maniac (or reanimate it off of Bolas’s -4), draw into empty deck to win.

These next few require specifically Worldgorger Dragon + a reanimation enchantment, as well as Forbidden Orchard ;

-Make infinite spirits on every opponent’s board, then play Rakdos Charm to deal infinite damage to each opponent.

-Use The Scorpion God ’s ability to ping as many spirits from Forbidden Orchard as needed to draw your deck (or keep reanimating Reassembling Skeleton with its effect. This method can be done with either infinite mana outlet), proceed to win with either Laboratory Maniac or Rakdos Charm , or even flex back on The Locust God + Echo of Eons and Call to Mind .

The ability to tell your opponents how you choose to be rid of them feels very Nicol Bolas to me. This deck could be updated with a suite of fetches, expensive counterspells, the big mana rocks and all that, but I wanted to keep it semi-budget casual but still have dedicated win-lines and not have to Hail Mary to win.
