Nice deck! I have one that is more aggro and relies on Runechanter's Pike for the win. +1

This is pretty damn decent i played it against my blue green infect and i almost never can win(not side boarding in a test play tho.) only thing is that if you hit any removal comming from the opposition youre hosed. You should really consider Runechanter's Pike to speed it up because you cant rely on your creatures never getting wiped. You need to control the early game then drop a fatty and seal the deal. Also considerApostle's Blessing its a lifesaver for the sideboard I play it in a couple older decks both my infect deck and my pauper deck.

Great deck, definitely a +1 from me!
I do have a few suggestions:
I believe that you should move your sideboarded Mutilates to the main, due to the large number of creature-based decks in modern. You could also use something like Black Sun's Zenith for a reusable and more permanent effect.
Some other removal options: Dismember, Go for the Throat, Murderous Cut, and Slaughter Pact. Devour Flesh could probably be moved to the sideboard because it isn't as strong.
I'm not entirely sure that Lashwrithe is necessary, but that might just be due to a lack of playtesting.

dragon_slayer, thanks for commenting! :D
I could see going up to 3 or 4 Mutilate in the main depending on the meta.
I agree that Devour Flesh its not the strongest removal and ill probably end up replacing them. I think i was blinded by the possibility of sacrificing the Lashwrithe token if you need the life vs burn or something haha but yeah not really a justification for it to be in the main.
You may be right about the Lashwrithes but sometimes you have to keep some fun options in the deck over more solid cards and the possibility of having the explosive opening of turn 3 Phyrexian Crusader and turn 4 Lashwrithe equip and attack for 5 or 6 poison or playing a hasty Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon on turn 6 equipping and attacking for 10 poison its too good to pass up XD.

Don't get me wrong, I think that Lashwrithe is a cool idea.

I used to run this Mono Black Infect deck which ran Phyrexian Vatmother and a bunch of discard. Funeral Charm is a good card as its pump removal and hand disruption and evasion (but I never used it much).

HDOrthon, I think Funeral Charm is a trap, it does a lot of things that seem good but neither of them are really worth it. You don't really want to use a card to pump +2 in a control deck, its a very mediocre removal, you will never use to make them discard (unless they have no hand) and the evasion its the same as the pump you never want to lose a card only to give evasion to a creature when the plan is to control the game and win eventually. But yeah I had them in the deck too so... xD

Well I had them in an old deck using Runechanter's Pike so it helped there and the +2 is useful but I made the deck about a year ago so the meta game is very different now and the card might be that good anymore.

MTGLeafy, hmm why exactly? Night's Whisper is easier to cast

You can use it to damage your opponent, late game unexpected burn spell ftw!

Yay I love this! Phyrexian Crusader is one of those guys that can just make soul sisters go "wut?"
Have you play tested it against burn yet?

I like this a lot, what is an ideal hand to start with? And would it be worth more to add more opponent discard?

Why do you have Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth in the deck though?

Awesome deck. I'm new to control however and want to know how exactly one would play with a deck like this competitively...as in what you would do from the start of the game to the end. Thanks! and again, great deck (+1)

Modern budget is relative. I mean you can make some "fun" combo decks for way less but to have a competitive deck $250 is pretty budget. most t1 modern decks are in the $300-$500 price range. anything less I would consider budget.

Budget, in my eyes, is a deck that costs 1/4 or less of your weekly income to build. Most people do not earn more than a couple grand a week- those that do are around middle class. Much of America is lower-middle or below.
That being said, I think 150 dollars or less in modern is perfectly reasonable to create a pretty good deck. I've seen effective decks in modern being built for 40 dollars. I got in the top 4 of several local tournaments using a deck I built for 80 dollars. So to say a deck is "budget" when it is 250+ is kind of a lie.
It's honestly a pet peeve of mine that people put decks like this under the "budget" tab; it takes the place of other decks that cost less and are nearly as effective, and makes searching for an interesting deck or interesting idea that is affordable very difficult.

i liked
Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth can do some synergy with Funeral Charm and Runechanter's Pike with a lot of removal in graveyard in later game.
I hav a deck using similar ideas: Infecting, but more agressive with Livewire Lash and Cathedral of War ...
