A hydra tribal themed deck, with lots of mana ramp into large hydras and X costed spells.

This is not intended to be super competitive, just a fun and relatively cheap EDH deck. Many cards can be switched out for cheaper or more expensive cards.

Below you can find a breakdown and my thoughts regarding the certain card choices I have made.

Commander - Gargos, Vicious Watcher

Gargos, Vicious Watcher

Gargos will be the main focus of this deck. His stats are efficient for his cost, an 8/7 with vigilance for 6 mana is fantastic, and yet Gargos features even more goodies written in his text box.

The main ability from Gargos is his ability to reduce the cost of ANY hydra spell by . Incase you are wondering, this also allows us to essentially add an additional to any hydra creature that features an in its mana cost, free of charge. Wanna cast Genesis Hydra with an of 5? Make it 9! Want to cast Protean Hydra , but only have one land untapped? Cast it for and have become 4!

The last ability of Gargos is the icing on the cake. Whenever a creature you control is targeted by a spell, you can have Gargos fight a creature! This is an awesome ability, allowing you to get revenge and most likely kill another creature before he or another hydra dies. Some cards within this deck will synergize with this ability. Pump spells and protection spells will not only work as great combat tricks, but also as pseudo removal.
