KAALIA OF THE VAST - COMBAT FOCUSED V1.0 8.5.23

I feel a Kaalia of the Vast deck is one of the first commanders that new players who are just starting to figure out synergies really rally toward. I was one of those players, now years later, and wanting to build a combat oriented deck, I figure Kaalia could be a natural lead for such a concept. Speed. Hot, nasty badass speed. Lets get the fatties out fast, and become an absolute PROBLEM on the Wal-Mart linoleum.

I'm returning to Kaalia just because of the power level she had in my playgroup and the badass new art shes getting from MH2.

COMBOS / INTERACTIONS:

Homeward Path + Humble Defector = Draw Two Cards | This interaction is rather simple, you must have both cards in play, and both need to be untapped. Tap Humble Defector to draw two cards, and then pick any opponent. Once that opponent gains control of Humble Defector, tap Homeward Path to return all creatures to their owners. Since you can only activate Humble Defectors ability anytime you could a sorcery, this stops any opponent from gathering card draw from the Defector.

Phyrexian Unlife + Solemnity or Nine Lives = Cannot lose the game | Phyrexian Unlife states, that, as long as you have 0 or less life, all damage is dealt to you as though its source had infect. Infect is dealt by poison counters, but if you cannot get counters... (thanks to Solemnity) its tough to lose. Same principal applies to Nine Lives, without any counters the enchantment stays on the field, with Hexproof, its even harder to remove.

Mistveil Plains + Sunforger + Thrill of Possibility = Mardu Draw Engine | Pay one white to move Thrill of Possibility (assuming you already played it) to the bottom of your deck, and use Sonforger's unequip ability by paying one white and red to search for and play Thrill of possibility. You will have to discard a card, but you will gain one card total so your hand will replenish as you use the loop. ANY instant card CMC 4 or less can be used for this same trick.

Aurelia, the Warleader + Helm of the Host = Infinite Combat Phases/Infinite Untap Creatures | Requires all permanents on the battlefield. Helm attached to Aurelia. At the beginning of your combat phase, Helm of the Host triggers, creating a nonlegendary token copy of Aurelia. Declare the token Aurelia as an attacker. The token Aurelia triggers, causing you to untap all creatures you control and get an additional combat phase after this one. Repeat each combat phase.

Kaalia of the Vast + Master of Cruelties = Target Opponent Loses the Game | Requires Kaalia of the Vast on the battlefield. Master of Cruelties in hand. Kaalia of the Vast does not have summoning sickness. An opponent cannot block and kill Kaalia of the Vast. That opponent cannot block Master of Cruelties. Declare Kaalia of the Vast as an attacker. Kaalia of the Vast triggers, causing you to put Master of Cruelties from your hand onto the battlefield tapped and attacking. When Master of Cruelties isn't blocked, it triggers, causing defending player's life total to become 1 and causing Master of Cruelties to deal no combat damage this turn. Kaalia of the Vast deals lethal combat damage to defending player.
