I would up the basic land count, Blood Moon sorta shuts this down unless you can squeeze off the charm in time. Otherwise not bad.

What mode do you choose most often for Esper Charm? Like, what factors make you decide draw v discard?

Also, in what matchups would you board in Geist vs Baneslayer?

It should help.

How do you utilize the Gideon Jura correctly...?
January 25, 2017 10:17 a.m.
I may be rather off on this point but Fatal Push is not better than Path to Exile. Path to Exile kills anything, whereas fatal push only kills at best creatures with converted mana cost 4 or less. Though Path to Exile does give your opponent a basic land this advantage almost never makes a difference. It also does not need revolt late-game to be effective.

hunkers, a deck with Path to Exile can still utilise Fatal Push in the same way as one might utilise Lightning Bolt (but a bit less, because Push doesn't go to the dome). I'll put it this way, 7-8 turn 1 kill spells are better than 4, and also, you can Fatal Push a Birds of Paradise, but you won't Path to Exile it.

I didn't mean to say that all Fatal Pushs should be taken out. Just 1 for a 4th Path to Exile.

Absolutely. The number of Path to Exile should be 4 in any control/midgame deck running white in Modern.

Hey, +1. I do have one question though. Why no Celestial Colonnade? I imagine it has been suggested prior to my own, but your mana base looks like it caters to that color significantly. To be fair, I do see a lot of cards that need to be used on T1 (primarily / spells) and tapped lands entering the battlefield hinders that. However, with Tar-pit being at x2; would x2-x4 of Colonnade make too much of a difference? I know late game mana fixing is easier after the T1 push--assuming one has mana in hand.

I would imagine this is because the deck has enough threats and disruption that the lategame mana sink matters less than the unblockability of Tar Pit and the lifegain off Vent. Having seen this deck in action, I can certainly understand why it would not want to use its mana on turn 6 to make a 4/4 flier. Colonnade would be the choice of a more controlling list, and not one with the capacity to apply as much pressure as this list.
That said, I can definitely see one Colonnade finding its way into the list, if Neo7hinker deems it needed.

I think 1-2 Celestial Colonnade is reasonable, especially if you really don't like Shambling Vent, but Creeping Tar Pit definitely stays. Both of your explanations are correct.

@Neo7hinker : tried out the liliana build today. Actually quite liked it. Might want to find room for the 4th snapcaster to get more value from discarded cards or some other flashback option in addition to lingering souls as you don't grind cards as good in control mirrors that play visions and draw 3 from T5 onwards. i also think this deck needs some sort of a mana dump to abuse late game, as you can sit with a lot of mana and little action/useless cards.

Think of Elspeth, Knight-Errant as Gideon, Ally of Zendikar #3.
