The main goal of the deck is to get out Ezuri quickly, but not necessarily on turn 4. People are aware of the power level of this commander and will aim removal at him. Play him with open mana for a counterspell or protection spell.

"Experience Counters" are something you get as a player, and don't lose when Ezuri is killed, or returned to your hand. However, his ability is dependent on him being on the battlefield.
