Deck I Started playing modern with. Deck has performed incredibly well at local FNM/Modern events, going top 4 almost every week I've played it. Lots Of room to scale up/Down based on budget/power.
Has overall decent match ups vs most deck types. Struggles the hardest with Blood Moon right now, but I feel like its got a lot of options to deal with both long and short games.
Built this Deck right before 5 color humans became a big thing. and Have Slowly been upgrading it to eventually convert to 5 color.
6 Mana Dorks allows for regular turn 2 3-drops, if you cant afford the Hierarchs, then 2 Birds of Paradise, and 4 Pilgrims can work pretty well. (The Pilgrims being humans is very relevant!)
Big-Thalia can completely steal games, especially vs Tron! I cant recommend her enough, even when this deck was more on the budget end she was over performing.
Tracker is also great, especially on turn 2, but is mostly good in long games and gets side-boarded out pretty regularly. Better the more fetches in the deck, and also synergies well with Thraben Inspector.
The extra 2 mana-dorks also allows you to hit Collected Company pretty consistently, even through Thalia.
I don't think I need to stress that Champion of the Parish and Thalia's Lieutenant are the Best Creatures in the deck and the reasons you play the tribe. Worth mentioning that you can play champ turn 1 into turn 2:
- double Hierarchic for a 5/5 on attack step
- Hierarchic and Pilgrim for a 4/4
- Lieutenant/Mayor for a 3/3
If your opponent cant answer it, its going to be a bad time.
Mayor of Avurbruck is great on both sides, and the wolf side wins a lot of long games. Control decks don't really like letting it flip but also don't like casting spells just to have it not flip, and puts a lot of pressure on them. In more combat focused matches, getting free wolves and pumping your guys up are both relevant.
Try to Collected Company on their turn so you can attack right away, or get surprise blockers. Hitting a Reflector Mage has saved my life on several occasions in response to attackers.
If you hit Eternal Witness on your Collected Company, you can target collected company and cast it again next turn!
