I made this years ago but really never finished it. And the latest incarnation of this deck is now 2 color and a little tighter. It can be found here: Dog Town.
Basically, Mortis Dogs is a hugely powerful card that sleepers its way to victory. The key component of that is, in a sense, you can double the damage it inflicts in a turn and it has a native bonus to power when you attack. So it looks like a 2/2 that becomes 4/2 when it attacks and has a gy effect.
It can become a giant 1 turn kill on an opponent with the right cards. Assault Strobe it for double strike, declare your attack, then Vines of Vastwood or Vampire's Bite it. Now, its potentially 14 or 16 pts of damage. Then after combat resolution or at instant speed if they throw something at it you cast either Fling or Artillerize for 5, 7 or 8 more. Then it goes to the yard and drains them for 7 or 8 again. So max in 1 turn off the back of a 2/2 creature you could do up to 32 pts of damage.
So the main combination in this deck is: Assault Strobe
+
Mortis Dogs
+
Vines of Vastwood
. Then you Fling
+
Mortis Dogs
to finish the game. Everything else just duplicates one or more of the effects needed to win.
An alternative win condition is: Fling
+
Immolating Souleater
+
Pristine Talisman
or Assault Strobe
+
Fling
+
Immolating Souleater
. With the Souleater you can spend life to enhance it's power. Assault Strobe doubles it's value. The talisman lets you keep your life total up. And Fling lets you do damage with it even if you cannot attack.
There are some nice small synergies in the deck as well;
Artillerize
+
Mycosynth Wellspring
: Get lands and thin your deck while shooting stuff is great.
Geth's Verdict
+
Mortis Dogs
+
Unholy Strength
: Basically attack with the dogs then use the verdict on yourself. I have won a few games using the verdict on myself.
Caustic Hound
+
Geth's Verdict
: Same thing, just another good sacrifice choice.
Any Suggestions are welcome, I need to smooth it out and get it more consistant.
So with this deck to win you usually need to kill your Mortis Dogs, hence the title Bad Dog!
