How do you win exactly besides MoM, and what is the signifigance of Mana Vault and a few other artifacts? I want to try to build a deck similar to this but i do not understand this archetype.

Also why no Omniscience?

The idea is that you cast High Tide once or twice, then use land untappers to make an absurd amount of mana (normally in the range of 15-50 on the combo turn). You then look to draw every card in the deck (via Enter the Infinite, Blue Sun' Zenith, infinite storm Mind's Desire, etc.) and with with either Laboratory Maniac or infinite mana with Blue Sun's Zenith.

The deck has a few ways of going infinite: Palinchron + High Tide, Capsize + Candelabra, ...

Mana Vault is for casting early draw spells like Recurring Insight, but is best for generating storm to cast big Mind's Desires. Play a bunch of free mana rocks, play Retract, Hurkyl's Recall, Rebuild, play them again, and cast a Mind's Desire for high storm count.

Omniscience is too slow. The deck already makes enough mana that you can pay for anything in the deck thrice over. Almost always, the gate on the combo turn is how many cards you can draw, not how much mana you need.

Paradoxical Outcome seems very good on your combo turn. Another return all artifacts plus card draw

FiddlerTheDrum I'm not going to be playing it. It's only good on the combo turn, it's 4 mana, which negates its ritual potential, and drawing 2-3 for 4 isn't aggressively costed. There just aren't enough mana-netting rocks to make it good.

Will you be adding Dramatic Reversal 1U: Untap all nonland permanents you control

September 18, 2016 11:36 p.m.

ShaperSavant says... #7

KillKid20095 No, it's only good with Candelabra out and there are plenty of ways to abuse Candelavra already that are less dead at other stages of the game. (Such as any Boomerang effect.)

As far as the artifact bounces go, wouldn't this be strictly better?

September 19, 2016 7:51 p.m.

ShaperSavant says... #9

KillKid20095 No, the artifact bounces also produce storm, answer artifact stax like Sphere of Resistance and Trinisphere, disrupt enemy artifact combos, stall people with artifact ramp, and protect your artifacts (importantly, Candle) from artifact removal and wipes.

What about Paradoxical Outcome?

I just can't see how Meditate is good sure it draws 4 for 3 but you skipping a turn seems really bad. How do usually use it?

ShaperSavant says... #12

RandomMagicPlayer You don't have to skip a turn if you win that turn.

Ooh okay I honestly didn't think of that now it all makes a lot more sense.

Why is Jace the Commander? Sure he digs but Kaho, Minamo Historian seems like he would provide more gas. (if you're worried about Kaho dieing and exiling High Tide just have Kaho grab Mystical Tutor, at the cost of one extra mana) and outside of grabbing HighTide he can grab important answers such as: Capsize, Counterspells, Big Draw spells, etc.

Dunadain Jace casts Tide twice.

This list is pretty differnt from your article one. Is the play style the same is there anything I know if I want to switch to this one. And why is it better than the article one. -thanks

Honkytonk2 If you're talking about the article that was hosted on landdestruction.com, that wasn't my article. The playstyle ends up being similar to that deck, but I looked to optimize it where I could.

Hey! First off love the deck. Second, after looking at this list and several other decks mainly consisting of blue/artifacts(teferi, brago), what is the reason for voltaic key in most of these list and yours?

May 13, 2017 10:20 p.m.

RyaNola says... #20

i get candlelabra in this list i suppose, but others i dont

May 13, 2017 10:24 p.m.

ShaperSavant says... #21

Voltaic Key is mainly for untapping Candelabra, but also works with Ring, Crypt, Vault, Monolith, etc.

Why no Peregrine Drake?

I was wondering if you would happen to have any recommendations for replacing Candelabra of Tawnos on a budget. I have the rest of the deck as a byproduct of other decks that have been built and torn apart but have never actually needed to find myself a candlestick and can't really afford one at the moment.

ShaperSavant says... #24

Smerz Replace Candelabra with Mind Over Matter and turn some of the worse artifact tutors into other untap spells like Cloud of Faeries, Treachery, Hidden Strings, Dream's Grip. You need a slightly higher density of untapped to keep mana flowing on your tide turn.

Thanks! This is really the type of deck I enjoy and I'm thankful for the work you put into it.
