Well, it looks like Noble Hierarch (maybe Spellskite too) could be reprinted this summer in Modern Masters 2015...

Have you tried Llanowar Augur or Simian Spirit Guide? I used to play a singleton SSG for a short while before changing to UG infect and it worked reasonably well - it allows you to go all-in with, say, three pump spells while still keeping up Apostle's Blessing, to play a cmc 2 creature t2 or pays for Inkmoth activations while leaving up mana to buff and protect it with your other spells.Llanowar Augur is just great - it's something to do on t1, blocks creatures like Monastery Swiftspear or Goblin Guide reasonably well against Burn etc. (which is a very difficult matchup in my experience) and gives you access to trample, which is very important in mono-green infect against a plethora of decks (Delver, BW Tokens, Junk, Jund...).

Going into blue is definatley something to consider here. You get probe, Blighted Agent etc. Also, Noble hierach improves these decks by a large margin

You don't need blue for Probe, though, and will rarely pay mana to cast it.

@MoraxMarbas, no blue splash for Blighted Agent?

UG Infect is quite different from MonoG infect - you have to get rid of the Catherdrals, for an example, to have a playable manabase with such a low land count. This means that you have to go rather solidly UG, as Agent alone isn't enough to justify the changes.

Playing UG is fine (and it is IMO a better deck overall) but it is different enough to be considered a separate variant, not a Monogreen Infect with a minor U splash.

Mmmm I don't think that Necropede is your best choice. Definitely not Blight Mamba, but how about Plague Myr? That is really good with your Inkmoth Nexus. It also helps with Wild Defiance. And I would take out Cathedral of War. Or maybe just run 1 or 2. Thing is, you need green mana super bad in MonoG Infect. If you try to win super fast, Cathedral won't help you that much. And sometimes you do have to attack with two creatures, and then depending on blockers, play the Instants, so yeah. Cathedral isn't that great. And I know it sounds crazy, but I would Sideboard Fogs. I have taken 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th with my Infect deck, and actually Fogs have saved me a number of times. I went to FNM yesterday (I got 2nd, but was undefeated, it was weird), and and I played against a pretty good Hexproof deck, and Fog saved me. Twice! Hope this deck continues to go well for you :). Also, maybe take a look at my deck: Infected! How do you like it? (FNM 1st)

Also, I would at least Sideboard some Spider Umbras. They help a ton.

Become Immense has the potential to end games faster.

Yes but it isn't very smart to run more than one in the main board. I think it's more of a sb thing

January 31, 2015 11:38 a.m.

I disagree. It's an effect that Infect would be very willing to pay 3 mana for, and you will almost never pay more than 3 for it.

I would recommend Invigorate because life isn't important this time. So you can still use all your mana.

February 4, 2015 1 p.m.

Invigorate isn't modern, or infect would be a lot better

What exactly is Tormod's Crypt there for? I get that it's GY hate (duh) but I really can't think of a matchup where you would want it that bad, especially since the GY decks are generally good matchups for infect due to its speed. If you have room for specific sideboard cards, I would much rather run something for the actually terrible matchups, such as burn.

Gitaxian Probe is really good in both UG and Mono-G Infect. Seriously, try a playset in the main if you haven't already.

Honestly I would go swap those Wild Defiance for Become Immense I had wild defiance in main board for my deck Infect Their Souls but swapped out for become immense and I have found that i do a lot better in tournaments. I've side boarded the Wild Defiance them but haven't used them since.

Pure_Insanity says... #24

Autumn's Veil would be nice against Black or Blue, you have 8 protection spells maimed already, so what would you sub for Autumn's Veil
