My spin on this deck.
Win Conditions
- Marionette Master. Sacrifice your treasure hoard to potentially kill your opponent when she comes out. Only 5 Treasures needed to pull this off.
- Revel in Riches. Not very helpful against aggro, but provides another way to win against control matchups.
-
The Scarab God
. When all else fails, reanimate your opponents graveyard. Most of your own creatures make good candidates as well with their ETB triggers.
The Scarab God
will carry most of your games.
Early Game
Use Kitesail Freebooter to help keep early threats at bay and frustrate your opponents strategy while also gaining a glimpse at some valuable information to make better decisions later on.
Depending on what you learned with Kitesail Freebooter, you may want to go ahead and run out Sailor of Means to potentially ramp up with a treasure, or hold back and use a Negate, Lookout's Dispersal, or other control options available to you that will deny your opponent any board presence and tempo.
Mid Game
Twilight Prophet is an excellent mid and late game creature that alleviates some of the pressure presented by aggro decks while also acting as card draw, especially as your treasure makes it easy to receive the Cit's Blessing. Use
Opt,
Deadeye Tracker, and
treasure map
to help move lands out of the way in your library so you can hit some of your bigger spells.
Hostage Taker is also great removal at this point. Don't be afraid to use treasure to cast whatever you exiled before it gets burned on your opponents next turn.
Late Game
Throughout the game you want to control the board and deny your opponent their options long enough to let
The Scarab God
drop down. Many pirates gave their lives so you can bring them back, score more treasure, and eventually either swing in for the win or spend your hard earned loot with
Marionette Master to buy a satisfying victory! But not everything goes according to plan. Sometimes subing in your
Revel in Riches is the best response to
Seal Away and other annoying control mirrors.
