Grim Haruspex and Mardu Ascendancy would be good here I think. Although I personally like Harvester of Souls instead of the Haruspex.

A few more suggestions:

  • I would run Wrath of God over Fated Retribution. While dealing with planeswalkers is nice, it's a little expensive and white intensive for a 3-color aggro deck.

  • Don't forget Shizo, Death's Storehouse when you add in the non-basic lands.

  • As you are quite susceptible to board wipes, Ghostway might be something to consider.

The reason why i choose to run Fated Retribution is because of he instant speed. Its a lot of mana for instant speed but when it happens you never see it coming.

Rout is probably better if you just want an instant speed board wipe. Plus it has the no regeneration clause.

I've had along of fun with it so far, its just a really janky deck that focuses around using creatures for control aspects. Lot of fun playing with this deck

Have you thought about using Fiend Hunter? if you have a sac outlet, you can sacrifice it in response to the trigger, permanently exiling the creature. Then you can recur him and do it all again!

Don't you have to use only cards in your commander's colors in EDH ?

Alesha is 3 colors.

June 23, 2015 5:35 p.m.

Tiddilywinkus says... #15

@xavouine

As -x-Juuzou-x-x- stated, Alesha is indeed 3 colors as her ability with the hybrid mana (white and black) adds those colors to her color identity. If this were not the case Alesha wouldn't be able to activate her own ability if you used her as a commander.

Tiddilywinkus thanks, I'm still a bit noobish lol, thought only the mana symbols in the casting cost counted toward a permanent's colors :P

how do u prevent her from dying when she attacks?

June 27, 2015 1:43 p.m.

Tiddilywinkus says... #18

@ Shadow02

Reconnaissance, Rogue's Passage, Iroas, God of Victory, Sudden Spoiling are some cards that allow her to not die. If i give her deathtouch people generally wont block her, plus say Duplicant or Fiend Hunter is in my graveyard i can bring back one of them and exile a potential blocker. Elspeth, Knight-Errant can give her flying. Then again it is about playing smart and attacking those who can't afford or are unable to block her, and sometimes you don't care if she dies as what she gets back is more important, the deck works really well without her ever coming out sometimes, she just facilitates easier play.

Ankle Shanker's ability will only work when you attack with him, not when you bring him onto the field with Alesha as attackers have already been declared. I assume you know this, but just making sure.

also since you're playing black, why not card draw to keep your momentum? Phyrexian Arena, Dark Tutelage, Dark Confidant, Underworld Connections, Gravestorm, Bloodgift Demon, etc?

Tiddilywinkus says... #24

@kinja

Entomb wouldn't be a bad insert, i get why that would be good in the deck even if it wasn't just a target for the master. Ill probably try and find space for it.

As for the card draw, I'd like to put in Dark Confidant over Dark Tutelage as bob reacts with my deck, I just don't want to blow out my wallet for either of them currently.

I've been thinking about something like Gravestorm however in later game it would probably be more of a dead card rather than a card draw engine, so I'm still on the fence about it.

As far as Underworld Connections and Phyrexian Arena go, obviously id rather take arena over underworld connections, i don't have enough cuts to make both. That being said I'm hesitant to put arena in as I'm still wondering whether or not i want to put in Demonic Tutor and other tutors, those would go in before arena. Bloodgift Demon isn't going to be going in because it doesn't really fit the recursion theme and any creature I can't recur will have to aid me in more ways than can be achieved by a harder to kill enchantment.

And of course thank you for the input!

np i'm just helping smooth your deck as much as possible. tutors and card draw really just makes you rely less on top decking and makes room for more cards since you don't have to run redundant cards and effects if you can search for them.
