Nissa, Worldwaker is the only version that could potentially fit with the deck, but I'm kinda reluctant to put her in because this isn't a mono-green deck.

I dont quite understand why you arent playing 1 copy of Ghoultree you can grab it with harbinger then play it for free with leaf crowned elder as a hilarious combo that is actually quite scary

He's cool but I'd rather have either Dauntless Dourbark, Timber Protector, Doran, the Siege Tower or even Dungrove Elder than an essentially vanilla 10/10. Also, I usually play Treefolk Harbinger on the first turn so I wouldn't have Leaf-Crowned Elder on the battlefield and Ghoultree would end up as a dead card in my hand.

Love it, think Treefolk should be played more!!Only thing I'm questioning is why Garruk, Primal Hunter??

Love it, this deck is sick! I like Treefolk too, they can be nasty. +1 Upvote.

Like this deck a lot, have you considered Blanchwood Armor to pair with Dungrove and Dauntless? Why not pump them up for 2 every time you play a forest :)
I like pairing Blanchwood Armor with Primal Bellow + Rancor for the sweep. Check out my mono-green ramp here as well: Bellowing Direct Damage

Thanks everyone for the comments!
@RochiTomRochi: It's nice to play him on turn 5 when you have a 12/12 Dauntless Dourbark and can just sac him to draw 12. It basically assures the win.
@DI77ON: Blanchwood Armor is a sweet card, but I don't really want to spend an entire turn beefing one creature when I could be developing a board state. That said, it's still definitely worth looking at.

Would you possibly consider Aspect of Hydra? Also, now that it is Mono Green, you could include Nissa, Worldwaker. Not that you should, just putting it out there.

@Vergil_Redgrail: I acually had no clue Aspect of Hydra was even a card. I'm definitely going to test that, since Primal Bellow hasn't actually been that good. I'm also going to test Nissa, Worldwaker, but I'm more skeptical about her. Thanks a lot for your feedback!

Why not Llanowar Elves instead of Sakura-Tribe Elder? It accomplishes the same thing basically without sacrificing it

Also why not do a Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx? Could make one huge turn if it goes to mid/late game

Yeah, people tend to overlook Aspect of Hydra as much as they do Charging Badger, which is one of my favorite cards from that set. Maybe the entire game. Don't know how many games my Budget Green Devotion deck won because they weren't prepared for a massive badger. Also, while I'm not normally a fan of Nissa, Worldwaker's first ability normally, it could possibly be effective with Timber Protector. Otherwise, why put one of your lands at risk?

And I imagine he's playing Elder over Elves because it searches for a Forest, instead of just tapping for mana. Several key benefits: You can use Elder as chump blocker since he doesn't have to tap, he searches a forest from your library, which thins the deck (that's one less forest you're going to draw), several cards in the deck base something off the number of forests you have in play, and he costs the same as Elves if you Bosk Banneret in play.

And it's immediately useful, netting you the land as soon as it hits the board, instead of giving your opponent a turn to kill it before it has a chance to do anything.

Have you thought about Kalonian Twingrove? I don't think it would be great, costing 6 mana, and your best bet is to cheat it, but there are better things you could cheat out. Just didn't know if you'd considered it.

Conflict: What the guy below you said about Sakura-Tribe Elder is true. I'm trying to run all forests and drawing into a card like Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx can be a huge setback for Dungrove Elder or if I just need green mana on turns 1,2,or3.

Vergil_Redgrail: I have seen Kalonian Twingrove, and he's a cool card but not good enough for this deck. I can get a much more impactful card in Timber Protector, and he's one mana cheaper as well.

Fair enough. Which is why I am still learning about deck building lol. I really want to build this deck.

As far as Modern decks go, this one is relatively easy to play, and pretty cheap. Lots of different ways you can go with it as well(GB, GWB, etc.)

Would you consider eight 4-drop warriors enough to include Obsidian Battle-Axe?
June 2, 2016 4:16 a.m.
Vergil_Redgrail says... #24
I feel like that's pretty unnecessary. This deck seems to be more about sticking big creatures that keep growing and finding a way to keep them around until you can swing for the fences. Haste doesn't seem particularly relevant, especially at a 3-drop spot. There's just better things you can do with that turn.

What About another kind of Nissa In There? She Can Talk to Trees and land. SHE IS PRACTICALLY A LAND THERAPIST!
