Grand master control

Standard*

mordencranst

Standard draw-go control. Never been a fan of U/B really, the deck works and all but tapping out for silumgars which take forever to actually win isn't really my style, and I've wondered about this concept for a while tbh.

The basic idea behind this deck is that if you have 6-7 mana open then the recursion ability of soulfire grand master is awesome with counterspells or hard removal, to the point where the card almost counts as a wincon on its own. This is great because the card is also a 2/2 with lifelink and can be played on t2 profitably as well on an empty board. The reasoning behind only having 3 wraths and 1 Elspeth and running 3 monastery mentors is basically that in early playtesting I ran normal win conditions and 4 wraths, but tapping out wasn't winning me any games so I decided I would rather have a 3 mana threat which would sit there and build up power without me ever having to tap low to play it (1 Elspeth just for the power level), and wraths synergised badly with grand masters anyway and worse with monastery mentors, you still need at least 3 though I think.

No sideboard yet as I haven't yet played it enough to know exactly what I'd want in a sideboard.
