This deck relies on the use of Assault Formation to create a serious threat. It uses low cost creatures with high toughness values to hold off initial threats, while offering the possibility to make small attacks in the first few turns. A large percentage of the creatures are colorless to take advantage increases in power/toughness from Ruination Guide, Tide Drifter, and Ruins of Oran-Rief. Life can also be gained with Tomb of the Spirit Dragon. Creatures that can be morphed are also included in the hopes that they can be cast when mana is in short supply and to leverage enchantments such as Trail of Mystery.
