fun, but I'm having trouble getting consistency for Demon of Death's Gate. In my opinion, Shadowborn Apostle should most definitely be in here. Either way, I like the idea! +1

Hello, Minelia5. Yes that would be a great option. Sadly, I do not have any copies of that card yet. I will definitely put 4 of them in to the maybeboard until I can get some. I am sure I could make room for them. Thanks for taking a look at my deck. If you have any other suggestions, please let me know.

Can I sacrifice death cultist for its effect and it still count as a sacrifice for death gate?

sadly Methvelin you can't. I don't know the exact rulings, I can just tell you that it's illegal. It's too bad, it would be great if you could!

It would yes. Maybe theres some other 1 black drops you can use?

Yes, Minelia5 is correct you cannot sacrifice to more than one trigger/activation at the same time. Methvelin I actually put those and the Fume Spitter in the deck in case I drew and played extras beyond getting the demon out so they would have some added utility. The only real requirement is that they be 1 mana cards. Anything else is gravy.

I think your deck would hugely benefit from Deathgreeter it'll make it so the life loss doesn't feel so severe from the hits and life you'll lose from bringing the demon out.

I have to think about where to cut for the Deathgreeter cards. The other creatures fuel the Mortician Beetle.

Dark Ritual for a turn 1 demon?

June 27, 2015 8:39 p.m.

MagicMarc says... #11

Yes, JA14732, Dark Ritual would be great! I did not use them in the deck because I already felt the deck is unfair as built. But if you are building to optimize it for sure would be in the deck.

That would make it a potential kill on Turn 2 instead of Turn 3.

To fit them in I would say -2x Liliana Vess and -2 Sign in Blood. So I will dig up a set an playtest with them.

This looks great, I was already thinking of a build like this, except I was basing around Athreos, God of Passage. Maybe that won't work here beacuse you already have a pretty big win condition

Hi, thanks for the upvote! Yeah youd need another deck shell to really cheese Athreos I think

I like it!

Also an alternative 1 drop: Diregraf Ghoul (basically a Vampire Lacerator without lifeloss, except it cannot block the turn after you play it)

And I would include Gatekeeper of Malakir. 3 Mana to have a creature and a removal? He can even be sacced to get Demon of Death's Gate so I really don't see why not include him.

Finally, perhaps work a sideboard, as Grasp of Darkness can be replaced by Victim of Night and/or Go for the Throat. Each one has its own very obvious pros/cons, very dependent on the enemy deck.

Also, if you want to play this outside modern, Dark Ritual is a must. Turn 1 Demon of Death's Gate? Yes please.

Hello, appsles!

Thank you for the suggestions to the deck! I really like Diregraf Ghoul as a strictly better replacement for the Vampire Lacerator. I am going to pick some up and swap them out. I also like the other removal suggested in case Grasp of Darkness does not cut it in game 1.

Thanks again and I will add that stuff in the side and maybe boards.
