1) Tokens
1.Cards like
Avenger of Zendikar
,
Eyeless Watcher
,
Hornet Queen
,
Master of Waves
,
Myr Battlesphere
,
Patagia Viper
,
Whirler Rogue
,
Sprout Swarm
,
Khalni Garden
,
Clone Legion
,
Fungal Sprouting
and
Rite of Replication
produce tokens when they resolve.
2.Cards like
Ant Queen
,
Chasm Skulker
,
Hangarback Walker
,
Hooded Hydra
,
Mitotic Slime
,
Mycoloth
,
Sekki, Seasons' Guide
,
Awakening Zone
,
Followed Footsteps
,
From Beyond
and
Animation Module
can either produce tokens over time or lots of tokens when they die.
2)Even more tokens
Now where there are so many ways to produce tokens - let´s double them up by playing cards like
Parallel Lives
,
Primal Vigor
or
Second Harvest
.
3) Protect Ezuri
Because Ezuri says "whenever a creature with power 2 or less enters the battlefield under your control, you get an experience counter" I am sad that he isn´t white. However, this deck is built around Ezuri´s ability to generate +1+1-counters of playing a lot of tokens. Therefore protecting the board - and first of all Ezrui- is key to winning the game.
1.
Elgaud Shieldmate
and
Mystic Snake
can protect Ezuri and produce an experience counter at the same time.
2.Then there´re
Aspect of Mongoose
and
Diplomatic Immunity
, which are even more difficult for the opponents to remove then
Elgaud Shieldmate
.
3.
Shielding Plax
,
Lightning Greaves
and
Whispersilk Cloak
are other good options in order to protect Ezuri or even some other threats.
4.If someone even dares to touch Ezuri e.g. with enchantments, targeted removal or boardclears - cards like
Cancel
,
Stubborn Denial
,
Turn Aside
or
Void Shatter
can save the day.
4) Enemy´s creatures
But what if any opponent has a big creature out before this deck is set up? There are 7 ways to answer them:
-
Play
Beast Within
,
Rapid Hybridization
,
Reality Shift
,
Curse of the Swine
,
Imprisoned in the Moon
or
Song of the Dryads
and laugh at them!
-
Eat popcorn and no nothing while hoping those creatures would high-five the face of your other opponents before they turn your way!
-
Play
Followed Footsteps
-
A sweet kicked
Rite of Replication
and hope the creature wasn´t legendary
-
My favorite lategamecombo in this deck : a innocent
Clone Legion
followed by a even more innocent
Second Harvest
. Unfortunalty, you´ll be the archenemy for the rest of the game if you do it.
6.Another possibility is to take advantage of the interacting between
Ezuri, Claw of Progress
and
Simic Manipulator
.
(6+1) Hit the opponent with
Cephalid Constable
!
5) Draw
_In order to play cards you obviously need to draw cards. _
1.
Fathom Mage
fits quite well and can abuse Ezuri´s ability when no other targets are on the board.
2.
Prime Speaker Zegana
mdoesn´t provide an experience counter but can draw a huge amount of cards if played in second main phase.
3.
Rashmi, Eternities Crafter
is a nice engine, which even gives us an experience counter.
4.
Rishkar's Expertise
or
Shamanic Revelation
need to be played in the secound main phase after buffing a creature with Ezuri´s ability.
5.
Seasons Past
can bring back key cards.
6.
Skullclamp
- so obvious- it´s a tokenbased deck.
7.
Thassa, God of the Sea
- at least some bad cards can be sryed away
8.
Rhystic Study
- enjoy saying "Do you pay 1 extra?" and being really annoying!
6) Ramp! (The deck´s weekness - please tell me how to upgrade this)
I don´t like having a huge amount of mana rocks in this deck. Cheap creatures can produce mana and after a later provide experience counters.
-
Darksteel Ingot
- guess I´ve chosen it because it´s indestructible?
-
Elvish Mystic
,
Llanowar Elves
,
Kiora's Follower
and
Naga Vitalist
are creatures for early mana.
-
Awakening Zone
and
From Beyond
are some kind ramp and tokenproducers.
-
Eyeless Watcher
- it´s more likely in here because it´s 3times a 1/1 body for "2mana"
-
Fertilid
,
Gyre Sage
and
Marwyn, the Nurturer
can abuse Ezuri´s ability and provide lots of mana
later on.
7) How to win
-
Sage of Hours
- quite boring win
-
Big creautes (Ezuri+lots of tokens+ any random creature on board) + unblockable (use
Herald of Secret Streams
,
Thassa, God of the Sea
,
Whirler Rogue
,
Rogue's Passage
or
Whispersilk Cloak
) + swing sideways
-
"You have one creature - well, I´ve a few more which you all cannot block."
8) How NOT to win
-
Let your opponent fake-shuffle your deck
-
Playing poorly
-
Drawing bad cards
-
You didn´t fix this deck´s manacurve combined with its ways to ramp
9) Sideboard
I think that the cards in the sideboard could be quite good in this deck. They´re still in the sideboard because they either were to expensive, sold out or not printed when I built this deck at home.
I think
Master Biomancer
is a bad option in the earlygame because the tokens enter a bit stronger (3/3)and then don´t provide experience counters. Should I still include him?
10) Where I need help
-
Ramp - this deck seems a bit too slow when playing
-
Which cards from the sideboard can be switched with witch cards from the deck?
-
Other card- or playstyle-options I didn´t mention which could improve the deck
-
My english is terrible. Feel free to correct my mistakes.
11) Feel free to comment! -- It really helps me a lot.
