Pioneer Delirium

Pioneer BG (Golgari) Budget

BRG24

Maybeboard

Enchantment (1)

An attempt at making Golgari Delirium in Pioneer on a relatively small budget. Not entirely sure how this deck will do, so advice and suggestions would be very welcome. Recommendations for a sideboard would also be really helpful.

Quick explanation of why cards are here:

  • Gnarlwood Dryad and Deathcap Cultivator are both good early drops that get better once we reach delirium. Having deathtouch is very helpful for defending against ground strategies and getting in early damage, and the ramp off the Cultivator can be very useful.

  • Grim Flayer is a brilliant card for the deck, giving a nice aggressive body early game, helps us to hit delirium quickly and then becomes a solid attacking threat.

  • Mindwrack Demon is another aggressive threat on the board, but the downside when not at delirium can be a bit tough, so only running the two.

  • Stonecoil Serpent is another all star for the deck. It scales very well into the game, since you just pay as much as you like for it, and the protection can be very useful too. But where this card is brilliant is that you can cast it for 0, giving you two card types in the graveyard to get delirium online as soon as possible.

  • Ishkanah, Grafwidow is another nice card, especially with delirium as it can be an instant board presence. Not perhaps the strongest finisher, but in longer games the drain effect can really pull through.

  • Emrakul, the Promised End is the ultimate dream for the deck. Cast it and you will have a very low chance of losing. It can be a little hard to get to, even with the discount that your graveyard gives you, but what would a delirium deck be without a spaghetti monster?

  • Crop Sigil helps us early game to hit the magical delirium, and then gives us recursion options when we need them. Adding an enchantment to the deck is also relevant for getting delirium more consistently.

  • Vraska, Golgari Queen does a lot of what we want. Not only does she add yet another card type to the deck, but her +2 and -3 are also very useful. Sacrificing a permanent can often be what gets delirium online, and the card draw is very relevant in a deck that is rather light on it. Her -3 is just solid removal.

  • Traverse the Ulvenwald lets us ensure we hit land drops early game and then tutor for our finishers in the late game. All round solid card.

  • Grisly Salvage is another card for getting stuff in the graveyard to get us to delirium, and filtering the top of our deck is also nice.

  • Abrupt Decay and Assassin's Trophy are just solid removal spells that deal with most threats.

  • Collective Brutality is a useful utility spell, and the discard to escalate is often very useful for enabling delirium.

  • Fabled Passage is a useful both for fixing, but also for getting a land into the graveyard. Getting a full play set is probably the decks first upgrade. Castle Locthwain is the other land of note since it can help us with card draw when we need it. The rest of the mana base is fairly basic Golgari, that can be tweaked and changed very easily to fit your collection or budget.

Hope you enjoy.
