I personally would drop 2 pheonix to add the extra volleys, since it would be better on your curve. Also how well as shrine been working for you?
April 23, 2012 6:48 p.m.
I cant drop the Phoenix, no way, it's just too constant and too direct damage every turn, and my opponents can't stand it. Shrine is acually one of the best cards in the deck, and after you play it turn 2, it can do like 10 damage turn 5 and end it every time

I really want to see a full set of Ball Lightning, and maybe a 1x of or 2x of Thunderous Wrath.
April 24, 2012 10:45 a.m.
Yeah I thought Ball Lightning was good. But thunderous wrath, good as it is, will be a psuedo mulligan if it was in opening hand, which is more common than not, it would be utterly dead. The upside can't undo the down for me, it just doesn't fit in Red deck wins, you know? Should I take out a hellspark for a fourth ball lightning? What do you guys think?

I really think Keldon Marauders is the perfect card for this deck, really squeezes through a lot of damage. Magus of the Moon seems slightly too slow for the maindeck and won't shut down too much, so you might wanna try it in the side. Also, no love for Grim Lavamancer ?
June 12, 2012 7:09 p.m.
Lavamancer is good and I've used him before but he's also just too slow.
June 13, 2012 12:33 p.m.
How is Magus of the Moon interfering with Molten Rain ?
"Nonbasic lands that are turned into Mountains are still nonbasic. Magus of the Moon does nothing to change the land's supertype."
Thus, Molten Rain isn't affected. Why doesn't anyone check Gatherer?
August 6, 2012 10:37 p.m.
Well I checked... Molten rain kinda does fit well in this deck. I'm putting it back in.

have you thought about 1 Bonfire of the Damned ? if a deck is survives longs enough and put creatures and attacks you, deal damage to them as well as the creatures with it. please at least consider it.
August 7, 2012 12:08 a.m.
Yeah I noticed how its now like $200,000,000. It has to be good... seeing as I have one I'll have too. Yeah...

I think you'd be better off with Slagstorm or Rolling Temblor or something than Bonfire of the Damned just cause the only time it's going to be useful is if it happens to be your 3rd-6th draw, after that you're likely doomed to lose that game or have nearly finished them and any normal burn spell or something would work better. That's just a very small window for having a card end up.
August 8, 2012 3:08 p.m.
I didn't even think of Slagstorm , but that's the card this deck is missing. In this deck I have an opening hand of seven, then draw about 5 cards and either they die or I run out and lose. So most of the time, Bonfire of the Damned was not miracle I noticed by playtesting. I'll use slagstorm instead because it just blows up the field. I remember when nobody used slagstorm right when it came out, and all I could think was "dammmmn that is powerful. That's gonna be pretty useful someday." Thanks for the suggestion.

Sweet man, glad I could help. This looks pretty sick. And I normally hate red decks. +1

I'd run card:Hell's Thunder over card:Chandra's Phoenix just more damage and it has unearth to get a second go around.
August 13, 2012 12:10 p.m.
I'm thinking perhaps neither. I'm considering a few Keldon Marauders , perhaps Magma Jet . Mostly though I believe Searing Blaze would do the most work right now.

Magma Jet sounds better given it can scry about bad draws.

All I have to say is that Brimstone Volley , while 3 mana, can get in some damage. I'm unfamiliar with modern, so I don't know how good it is, but it still seems good. Just to get this out there, Banefire rules. If you want a little bit of late game, that card is awesome. Another thought for your sideboard, I am unfamiliar with the modern meta, but this card just owns a ramp deck.Zealous Conscripts is very good. Mono red for the win!

Im sorry but I just don't understand the purpose of Arid Mesa in here?
September 3, 2012 9:11 a.m.
Essentially it is to simply draw, use and fetch a mountain, for the goal of thinning out my deck of lands. The amound that it changes my chance of drawing another useless land versus drawing a lava spike is worth the 1 life that it requires. Typically 1 life does not make the difference in the game if I lose, it's almost always if I can draw a good direct damage spell followed by another and another.

FYI, the lyrics are "watched it pour, as I touched your face."
Seeing as you've set their face on fire that might be a little awkward.
September 7, 2012 11:51 a.m.
Exactly... That's part of the joke. Its quite fitting for the deck, lol.

Yeah, I know it beats Incinerate definitely, but is it really better than Burst Lightning?
