Is Shrapnel Blast banned or something or do you just not have any artifacts to sac apart from the shrine? Or would adding a Darksteel Citadel or four mess up your mana?

The second two of those things. Even if I had any artifacts, it's just not THAT powerful.

Check out my RDW, maybe you can get some ideas out of it, is very similar to yours but for my metagame is better.

Skullcrack may be better for you than Flames of the Blood Hand same lifegain prevention less cost for 1 less damage.
January 28, 2013 12:28 p.m.
Definitely you're right on that one. Skullcrack is a powerhouse 2 mana spell for red and will see play for a long time.

Flame Slash would be like another Vexing Devil. Check out my deck, A Superfriendly Walk on Esper. +1

Boros Reckoner is pretty marginal in modern, if you must have a three drop then Boggart Ram-Gang is your man, well, men...well, goblins.

Conflict. Need a combination of these 4 to fit into four slots in the deck as a finisher or power creature: Boros Reckoner, Ball Lightning, Chandra's Phoenix, Boggart Ram-Gang. I like Boggart, but they're all very good. Thoughts?

I'd say go with Chandra's Phoenix for the flying and haste and "revive" effect. or Dragon Hatchling if you end up running out of hand and have extra mana to spare. Hellrider isn't a bad finisher either

Skullcrack is nice in that it deals 3 damage and prevents life gain at instant speed, however I tend to favor Everlasting Torment as it's a permanent, an enchantment none-the-less, thus has staying power.

@aeonstoremyliver, first off, I don't know if anyone has told you this, but your username gets me every time. Nice one. Secondly, I have never actually seen Everlasting Torment , and I must agree that is stronger by much. That will shut down some Soul Sisters or Kitchen Finks centered decks I have trouble with. Thanks a bunch man.

Haha! Well, my wit surpasses my reputation ;-)
And no problem, sir! I just ordered 3x Everlasting Torment for my sideboard. There's another enchantment that negates gaining life, is the same CMC, however it deals 2 damage to each player. I went with Everlasting Torment due to the cost, which is about $2.00, and the fact that I might not want that loss of life. Anywho the eternal formats are outstanding for the fact that you can play powerful cards from older sets.
April 28, 2013 8:58 p.m.
Indeed. Just a quick question however: i hear "eternal format"all the time... What does that mean exactly?
April 28, 2013 9:53 p.m.
aeonstoremyliver says... #21
An 'Eternal Format' refers to a format where cards don't rotate out. Before Modern, there was Vintage and Legacy. Well, there still is Vintage and Legacy... There is also EDH/Commander that has been added recently as well.
On another note, without play testing your deck it seems the Legion Loyalist would be difficult to trigger Batallion. Personally I would cut it for 2x more Grim Lavamancer . Speaking of the Lavamancer, a few fetch lands ala Arid Mesa and Scalding Tarn make for good fuel in the graveyard.
Another card I've been meaning to obtain is Vexing Shusher . GREAT in the sideboard for control matchups...

i with aeonstoremyliver that you should drop Teetering Peaks for Arid Mesa since the peeks etb tapped.
April 29, 2013 4:45 p.m.
Adding fetch lands sounds like a great idea, but at 25 a piece solely to reduce land in the deck? Not much worth it, I'll put it in the online version.

Lol. They were $10.00 a piece just a few months ago... Being out of print and in high demand has caused the value to jump.
The fetch lands are primarily for Grim Lavamancer fuel in a mono red deck, as well as a free shuffle. In a 2-3 color deck, they're able to fetch a Shockland or original dual. Arid Mesa can fetch a Sacred Foundry , Stomping Ground , Steam Vents , Hallowed Fountain , Blood Crypt , Godless Shrine , Temple Garden , Taiga , Badlands , Plateau , Savannah , Scrubland , Tundra , and Volcanic Island .

(The 'thinning of the deck' with fetch lands is a myth. It's been mathematically proven to be false. Well, it'll take 7-8 turns for the effect to manifest...)

I would totally replace 2x Teetering Peaks and 2x Mountain with 4x Scalding Tarn , and then take out the Phoenix and the Marauders and put in 4x Grim Lavamancer . That way, Mesas and Tarns actually mean something, as your graveyard is just more fuel for you Lavamancers. And in a burn deck you really don't want a land that enters the battlefield tapped, right?
I would also put in 2 more Searing Blaze and play 2x Thunderous Wrath . It's no good if it's in your opening hand, but if you draw it... BANG!
Anyway, good deck.
