With your high variety of mana costs, Seasons Past seems rather strong.

Don't really dig Dreamscape Artist when you have 7 targets. You're running some extra forests, so maybe a Nissa, Vastwood Seer  Flip could be good there, she replaces herself and can draw you cards/ramp you off the plus, and can throw a body on the board if you need some more defense.

I used to run Shizo, Death's Storehouse in my own deck, but The Mimeoplasm does not retain its Legendary supertype unless it is copying a legendary creature, which in this case, would be Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon or Sheoldred, Whispering One. Sheoldred has swampwalk, and I find that generally more effective than Fear in a deck with Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth. In fact, your deck could probably use a copy of Filth.

Thank you for your input on my deck, I hope I was helpful with yours.

@ bswhite: As for Dreamscape Artist, I'm just testing him out for the time being. I put it in place of Lotleth Troll. I'm trying to find the perfect discard outlet. I would totally just use Survival of the Fittest if I had one. Overeager Apprentice has been working out so well that I was looking for something similar. 'Discard, ramp, win' type of situation. I really like Seasons Past so I may just toss that in and see how it plays out. Thanks for the upvote and constructive comment!

If you're looking for something similar to Overeager Apprentice maybe Skirge Familiar?

I think it is great how you can have two completely different strategies with the same commander.Mimeoplasm Ultimate Toolbox EDH

I have seen a lot of decks really focused on making huge one swing kill Mimeoplasm decks. To fuel this strategy I have seen lots of dredge and other similar mill effects. I really like the looting a lot better because it isnt random and it will also help you have better opening hands because they are also like cantrips and will smooth out your draws. I only have a couple ideas for you that may help out because this deck is pretty much tuned and I dont know if my ideas will work for your meta.

  1. Jace, Vryn's Prodigy  Flip would be a house in your deck. It does everything you want. Throws fatties in the grave and can flash back removal spells, more loots, or reanimation spells.

  2. I am not a big fan of Dreamscape Artist. I think its activation cost is kinda slow and expensive. I would try out Llanowar Mentor. He is a 1 drop and his activation cost is 2 less and he still ramps you 1 mana and he still is a discard outlet that also creates chump blockers if needed. I recently added this to my Meren deck and its one of my favorite discard outlets.

  3. A card that Im curious about on your list is Witchbane Orb. I think it is a good card if you are in a meta with a lot of targeted combos but I dont think its the best for graveyard protection. I think its very situational card that is kind of just luck if you have it before they find their hate. (unless you are just trying to be extra careful before comboing off with infect) But I may be wrong. I am more of a fan of instant speed protection like your Voidslime. Something that I think would be cute and actually could be nice too, is run Kozilek, Butcher of Truth. My reasoning behind this is once it is in your hand it turns all your instant speed loots into graveyard protection by discarding The Butcher (also Entomb) Also late game you can just cast him to draw a bunch.

  4. I think I would just switch out Primal Command for Careful Consideration because it is another instant speed loot that could help with the above strategy. Also I have found that Primal Command is not as strong because it is sorcery and some of the effects are not that great/relavent. Maybe your experiences with it are better though

  5. And lastly I think you should run Bojuka Bog since you have crop rotation. It is always nice having an instant speed graveyard exile.

P.S.

Idk if you have discovered the awesome interaction with Animate Dead/Necromancy and Kederekt Leviathan. The leviathan returns the enchantments back to your hand so you can bounce the field every turn until you find a way to win.

Let me know what you think :)

Thanks much for putting me in the special thanks! :)

Awesome adding Pulse of the Grid, I forgot about that one :) and let me know when you playtest the cards I suggested. I am curious if they make a difference.

I actually have a question about your oversize alter. It appears you did a bit more then just splice one half of the card to the other since you have his jaw overhanging the border. It also looks like you did some sort of fine sharpie work, but it's hard for me to tell from the picture. Is there anyway you could detail how you went about doing that?

October 5, 2016 11:26 a.m.

It's been a while but I'll try to remember how I did it. I only had 1 copy of the card so I was very meticulous on my cutting. First thing I did was cut around the picture gently so I would only cut through the foil layer of the card. I carefully removed the art and placed it to the side. I then peeled the bottom of the card (the part with the power and toughness on it) and glued it to the top part of the card after cutting it to size. Then I cut a basic land as a template for the art to make sure I could get the size correct. Using that I decided where I would cut the actual artwork before gluing it to the card then I used a fine point sharpie to fix any border issues around the art. Last step is trim the edges. Thanks for the +1!

One thing I forgot to mention. The alter is the size of a regular magic card and I keep it in a sleeve with the normal card on the back so I can flip it over and read the text on the card if needed.

That's a cool commander card, did you have it custom made?

October 31, 2016 11:25 a.m.

Thanks! I made it myself out of an oversized commander. If you look at the previous comments I told someone how I did it. I'll put those comments back on the page so you don't have to search for them. If you like the deck don't forget to +1. :)

The newest card that I am running in my mimeoplasm that I think is crazy good is Ancient Excavation. I highly recommend checking it out. I've played it the past couple fnms at my lgm and its just game changing when u can do it early and find the best half of 10-14 cards and also fill your grave for your reanimation effects.

have you ever considered Fathom Mage? on first look it looks like it wouldnt work with Mimeoplasm but it actually does even if it enters with the counters, i play it in my Mimeoplasm deck and it is a powerhouse for card draw!!!!

Pretty awesome deck. I appreciated the feedback you gave to my Mimeoplasm deck. Your deck is inspiring a few current changes to my deck. My Mimeoplasm deck has just gotten a little forgotten with some upgrades Ive done to a few other decks.

I’m loving this deck! Are there any upgrades besides alpha dual lands you’d make if money wasn’t an issue?

April 3, 2020 6:36 p.m.

@Wicker honestly I was just going through this deck about to put it back together because it is my favorite sultai deck I've ever had. Of course the first upgrade would be dual lands but other than that I'd throw in:

In a build with those I would narrow down my win cons and increase counterspells and removal but I feel that would also take a lot of fun out of the deck. Thanks for the upvote! I'll be making a few changes to this deck very soon so keep an eye out for the update!

@Wicker, ok that was a lot sooner than I thought, lol. I just finished updating the deck, let me know what you think.

Haha, thanks for the quick reply man! I’ve discovered 2 of your decks by chance this week and I love them, they’re perfect for my play group who likes to have games where we don’t go infinite. I’m thinking that this deck can work as a great base towards the Sultai Spacegodzilla as well too!

I wanted to ask on whether you think Disallow works better than Tale’s End. I think it definitely beats Voidslime, and I know the one extra mana costs sucks but I feel like it’s worth it for the versatility in provides.

Really glad you added the Cyclonic Rift, Survival of the Fittest, and Assassin’s Trophy! All changes I planned on asking about.

I was thinking the standard Counterspell could fit in one of your other protection slots.

Maybe Fact or Fiction over Ancient Excavation and Demonic/Vampiric Tutor in some of your tutor slots?

Toxic Deluge over Damnation and Life // Death over Beacon of Unrest, maybe Dread Return over Extract from Darkness as well.

Either way, beautiful deck man, love what you build! Keep it up!
