It would be absolutely amazing in this deck. But it's also $100 for a playset.

I really like the deck. How would you improve it if the budget was about 80-100$ instead of 25$.
What do you think about Hyena Umbra or Spirit Loop for this deck ?And for creatures maybe Favored Hoplite, Hero of Iroas, Kor Spiritdancer and Tethmos High Priest can work ?
I'm currently trying to construct a Modern heroic-themed deck (White splashed with blue) and some advice would be welcomed from an experienced deckbuilder as I'm am new to the game. Here it is - http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/heroic-tale/

I'd add Hero of Iroas and Daybreak Coronet and that Aura tutor.
May 27, 2015 9:38 a.m.
You mean Heliod's Pilgrim, is so which creatures would you replace ?
May 27, 2015 10:05 a.m.
Yeah that one. Phalanx Leader and Akroan Skyguard are probably the most expendable. If you remove them, you can switch Emerge Unscathed to Gods Willing for the extra scry since Heroic triggers aren't as important - though either is fine. And probably Glaring Aegis for the Coronet.

Faith's Shield is almost strictly better than Emerge Unscathed unless you really want that rebound. Not only can it help you survive an extra turn, but it also is just as cheap.

Faith's Shield is definitely not strictly better. Emerge you get twice. Shield you get once.
May 28, 2015 9:56 p.m.
should've said generally more useful; yes you get to have Emerge Unscathed activate twice, however it can't target non-creature permanents, and it doesn't have the lifesaving/gamewinning effect (with the former being the more useful in this deck) that the Faith's Shield has. In the end it is mostly up to the player whether they'd rather have the effect activate twice, or possibly have their life saved late game. In this deck they're even, however normally the Faith's Shield is situationally more useful (late game primarily).

Except that this is aggro, so if this gets into the late game, this deck is going to lose 90% of the time anyways, shield or no shield.

Have you considered splashing in some Blue ?
Here is my idea:
-4x Glaring Aegis, +4x Spectral Flight
-3x Akroan Skyguard, +3x Battlewise Hoplite
-3x Phalanx Leader, +3x Hero of Iroas
-4x Hopeful Eidolon, +4x Favored Hoplite
-1x Battle Mastery, +1 Heliod, God of the Sun
I'm also considering Hyena Umbra for the Totem Armor protection.
What do you think ?

I like it. Definitely a solid option if you pump the budget up a bit.

Hey, I'm just getting back into magic after a long hiatus, loving these ultra-budget decks!
Putting this one together, I had some trouble finding cards in my area like Spirit Mantle. However, I did find a card in my collection called Bonds of Faith. It's an interesting one which could double as a pump for Graceblade, and add control (Pacifism for non humans) Do you think this would be an OK replacement? or is there a better card out there from the newer sets which would be easy to find?
I also think Bonds of Faith could be good for flavor, kind of has a Jedi mind tricks vibe.

Spirit Mantle is really good because it grants protection from creatures which is useful both defensively (blocks anything without evasion) and offensively (unblockable).
A posibble alternative in my opinion might be Hyena Umbra.
Or Aqueous Form if you splash Blue.
There is also Holy Mantle but it's costs too much mana without Hero of Iroas.

Yeah pretty much what Dennis said. I'm sure it would work in the deck but you'd be giving up some serious pressure losing the invincible to combat damage and unblockable part. Have you checked online stores like tcgplayer?

Lifelink is a great choice for enchanting Graceblade Artisan.

Hey, Sagarys ! I'm really impressed in your ultra-budget decks at how effective they seem to be, so I really want to try out this one. If my budget for this deck was a little more (up to about $40 or $50), I would like to try adding Hyena Umbra and/or Hero of Iroas. But I'm not sure exactly what to take out and I don't want to mess up your rule of nine too much because I know that's what makes decks consistent. I like the idea of totem armor, so would Hyena Umbra be a good substitute for Glaring Aegis? I like the idea of tapping a creature to get damage through, but I see this deck has ways to make your creature unblockable and more first strike never hurts!
As for Hero of Iroas, I was thinking swapping him for Akroan Skyguard but then you could be vulnerable to a lot of flyers, right? How well does this deck do with no removal like Devouring Light or the more expensive Swords to Plowshares/Path to Exile?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I would definitely dump Glaring Aegis for the Umbra. The Aegis is a good spell, but the Umbra is superior, and the other auras are too powerful to lose.
As for Hero of Iroas, I'd probably actually ditch the Phalanx Leader. Buffing your field is nice, but very situational. Ideally, you're never targeting him with your auras. The Hero's passive makes him valuable even without targeting him. Then the Akroan Skyguard can stay on as another evasive creature or just something to defend against flyers.
As for removal, since I feel most of these ultra-budget decks should be played against each other and not competitively, I've never really missed it. But if you were going to take this deck up against other decks, I'd seriously consider adding Path to Exile. I don't think I'd cut any one thing to add a playset, more likely I'd just trim 1 card off here and there to fit it in. At the very least sideboard it. If you face a creatureless deck, it's wasted.

Thanks for your feedback! I think I'm only going to make the 2 changes to add Umbra and Hero, since this will still keep the price around $30!
June 9, 2015 5:46 p.m.
I was thinking of running the card Myth Realised (sorry I don't know how to link cards) with this deck, as you add counters to it when you cast a non creature spell. I'm new to magic and I wasn't sure if auras/enchantments/instants count as a non creature spell, any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you forget the theme of the deck for a moment, isn't Fabled Hero a strictly better creature than Graceblade Artisan ?
Another option is Mirran Crusader whose protections can help him not get hit by green/black removal and hit (twice) through these creatures.
If one of them is to get included in the deck Battle Mastery should probably be replaced by Hyena Umbra or Daybreak Coronet which can be had for 8$ a piece now (instead of the 25$ it used to cost).

So I bought this deck and built it and i love playing it its tons of fun however I made some changes I put in Hyena Umbra instead of Akroan Skyguard and I changed it from 4 Emerge Unscathed to two and added two Gods Willing and I'm also currently testing out Umbra Mystic which I think im going to remove because it just isn't as useful as I hoped it would be I'm now planning on putting Daybreak Coronet In place of Battle Mastery and Fabled Hero in place of Phalanx Leader. My question is what is your opinion on putting in Grasp of the Hieromancer in place of glaring aegis and what you think of putting in cards such as Starfield of Nyx Sigil of the Empty Throne and Blessed Spirits into this deck

wants to be too fast for Sigil of the Empty Throne. I could see Starfield of Nyx as a one-of, but no more.

That makes the deck pretty beefy! Congrats on creating the non budget upgrade!

put Daybreak Coronet into this deck it pretty much jives your graceblade artisan +5/+5 first strike vigilance and lifelink for two
