Last nights FNM was a bit weird as all of my matches except the first were against abzan builds.
Game 1:
2-0 vs. RW Aggro: Mana starvation wrecked him in the first game as he got a turn 2 seeker but didn't get a third land drop for another 3 turns, at which point i already had kiora ticking up and up. When the emblem came out the game was over. Brought in negate, Drowns, and crux. Game 2 was a bit of a surprise as I didn't expect him to board into full on RW control, making what I boarded in pretty bad. The game was long and grindy, I dropped Ashiok, he hit it with Fated Conflagration (which is amazing against me), he dropped outpost siege, I charmed it, Kiora immediately ran into stoke the flames, Elspeth got downfalled then a Bile Blight for the tokens. Finally I got him top decking and threw down garruk and started pumping out beasts. He did top deck another Fated Conflagration to keep garruk from from his ultimate but that wasn't enough to keep the 3/3s from beating him in the face till he died.
Game 2:
2-0 vs. Abzan Midrange: As I've stated before this is one of my best match ups, and this match was no different. A turn 3 Ashiok turned into a turn four Siege Rhino Which held him until I was able to drop Ugin and plus the last of his life away. Boarded in Thoghtseize, Stroke, and Deathdealer. Game 2 was all the same tune, more ashiok taking more threats, and now deathdealer as a most effective blocker, game over.
I'm not going to talk about match 3 because it was another Abzan Midrange match up and we already know how that song and dance goes, very well. Spoiler alert: I went 2-0.
Game 4:
1-0 Vs. Abzan Aggro: The one game went really well for me mostly due to him misplaying a bit, he just made really favorable plays for Bile Blight first by putting out 3 wardens then by putting out 2 fleece mane, then he jumped the gun with the monstrous trigger of his 3rd lion when I had mana for removal up. He rage quit on me before the game was even over stating that I and all control players could "die in a hole, starving and alone." However I'm unclear how alone I would be if all the control players were in the hole with me. Maybe we're all in separate hole's in this hypothetical MTG genocide. That's a lot of holes. I don't like being rage quit on. It makes me feel like a different kind of hole /:
