Artifact (1)

Kozilek, the Great Distortion brings all his giant Eldrazi friends along for a super-fun-good-time.

I decided to somewhat rebrand the deck and focus more on artifacts rather than the Eldrazi tribe, but a select few still remain. All the big boys are still there like Kozilek, Butcher of Truth, Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger, Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre, and Emrakul, the Promised End. They are too good not to include and can close out games on their own. Void Winnower was also too good to cut.

Speaking of removal, colorless truly is at it's weakest in this field. We have to make due with higher costed and more limited removal like Spatial Contortion, desecrate rality, and Eldrazi Confluence. We also run Spine of Ish Sah which can be recurred if we have a sac outlet for it.

While targeted removal is a weak point, board wipes are a strong suit. All is Dust and Ugin, the Spirit Dragon are complete one sided blowouts unless youre playing against an artifact or eldrazi mirror match. We don't run any full board resets simply because our board state usually can't afford to lose everything and be able to recover in a reasonable amount of time.

The value engine was probably the toughest to put together and the main reason why I put more of a focus on artifacts. The deck has a tendency to flood out because it drops a ton of artifact ramp into play so cards like Trading Post or Kuldotha Forgemaster can get extra value from those unneeded mana rocks. Unwinding Clock and Manifold Key/Sonic Screwdriver allow us to get extra usage out of our mana rocks.

The land base was a ton of fun to build because all these utility lands are all of a sudden easy includes into the deck because we don't have to care about fixing colors at all. I decided to stay away from the Tron Lands because the likelihood of hitting all three of those lands is a dream that almost never comes true. Instead we opted to include lands like Homeward Path, Inventors' Fair, Winding Canyons, and Buried Ruin. These lands are going to help the deck be more resilient and work towards our objectives. When cracking Expedition Map we are usually going to be searching for one of those utility piece's to deal with something our spells are having trouble with. If it's and early game use of Expedition Map you can always use it to ramp up with lands like Eldrazi Temple or Ancient Tomb.

Finally we get to winning the game. Aside from the obvious annihilator Eldrazi and Kozilek, the Great Distortion commander damage kills, this deck actually has some combo's that can piece together to destroy all of your opponents all at once. They are as follows:

Mystic Forge + Helm of Awakening/Ugin, the Ineffable + Sensei's Divining Top will let you draw the entire deck. Then from here there are two routes to go: First is by using Lion's Eye Diamond and keeping one of Kozilek, Butcher of Truth or Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre in hand you can shuffle your graveyard back into library and repeat this process for infinite mana. Second option is a lot more complicated and only necessary if Lion's Eye Diamond has been removed from the game. First play out all of your mana rocks that would be free due to the mana reduction activate them all for mana and and use Krark-Clan Ironworks to sacrifice them to add 2 mana for each. Play Trading Post to discard one of Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre or Kozilek, Butcher of Truth to shuffle the graveyard back in. Draw the deck again and this time play Manifold Key and activate to untap the Trading Post. Now play out the mana rocks again, activate for mana, and sacrifice everything to KCI again. You can repeat this process over and over making infinite mana.

Forsaken Monument + Basalt Monolith makes infinite mana.

Metalworker + Staff of Domination + a minimum of 3 artifacts in hand makes infinite mana as well as infinite draws.

With any of these combinations you can kill everyone at once with Walking Ballista or use Krark-Clan Ironworks and Spine of Ish Sah to destroy all of your opponents permanents.

The latest updates to this list came post Modern Horizons 3 and the two new eldrazi commander deck releases.
