Once upon a time, this was a mill deck. It was a fine deck, with Phenax, God of Deception turning all my creatures into mill effects, Muldrotha, the Gravetide allowing me to play combo pieces from my graveyard, and Consuming Aberration feasting on my opponent's libraries. Then one day, I decided to take out the mill and combo pieces, and I added in cards from my Teneb, the Harvester deck. I now had a pure reanimator deck, but I believed something was missing. That's when I remembered mutate was a thing. And thus was born into the world- the Monster Mash!

1: We Do The Monster Mash

The deck is loaded with non-humans to mutate cards like Auspicious Starrix onto, and many of them are large threatening creatures in their own right. Mutating the same creature a bunch of times gives me extra value in cases like the Starrix, but it can also be good to just give something like Frost Titan or Ancient Ooze flying by mutating it with Dreamtail Heron. Or combine the Heron with Sea-Dasher Octopus to draw some cards off attacking.

2: It's A Graveyard Smash

The deck also follows Muldrotha's lead and has lots of Recursion/Reanimator staples like Eternal Witness, Spore Frog, Birthing Pod, Mulldrifter, Sakura-Tribe Elder etc. I can fill the graveyard with cards like Hermit Druid and get cards like Stormtide Leviathan into play with Animate Dead. I can also mutate from the graveyard, so that's an option.
