Maybeboard

A cheap casual deck based on D&D tropes. A gift, say, to someone you are trying to teach Magic to.

There are a few more forests than mountains, but that's so Adventurous Impulse can be played to find a mountain, special land or Gnoll Hunter. Having double red for a third turn Hulking Bugbear is very nice.

Excesss mana can be used to double Targ Nar, Demon-Fang Gnoll. This is very useful if it has some +1/+1 counters on it. The Ranger Class helps here, as does Kick in the Door.

Kick in the Door lets you venture into the Dungeon. Most people use Dungeon: Lost Mine of Phandelver, which gives you a scry 1 and then either a treasure token or a 1/1 goblin token. If you go into the Dungeon: Dungeon of the Mad Mage you get +1 life, then scry 1, and Dungeon: Tomb of Annihilation makes everyone lose 1 life, then in the next room everyone has their choice of losing two life or discarding a card. Scry is your friend here.

If you have a few dollars, Karplusan Forest would be nice. But hey, better mana support is always better.

edit: Dropped Bulettes in favor of a pair of Halana and Alena, Partners and Elvish Mystics. Reach, First Strike, at least two +1/+1 counters and haste on another creature. What's not to like? And you'll likely trigger Pack Tactics, too.

Just for fun, took out the Owlbears for Browbeat.

edit2: I'm wondering if Game Trail is better than Temple of Abandon. For a D&D theme, either would work. From a practical standpoint, having three mana on the third turn is very helpful. Will need to playtest.
