This Deck is based on the mechanism of Madness.

Creatures

A -first-round-drop is the Kris Mage. She is a nice helper if it comes down to clean the board of little but annoying creatures. Her ability to launch a single Maddness-card like Fiery Temper or Bloodmad Vampire is in many cases very useful.

Wild Mongrel is known as the best Madness outlet in pauper. It can be pumped and it can change its color.

The Gathan Raiders is a card full of surprises. Usually it is played for its face-down-costs . By discarding a card, its Morph-ability is triggered. From now on it is at least a 3/3 and a potetial 5/5 if the players hand is empty.

Probably the best card to discard in the beginning is the Basking Rootwalla. Its Madness-cost is . It can be pumped to a 3/3 for each turn. So the best beginning scenario is paying for Faithless Looting you draw two cards and discard two Basking Rootwalla.

From a strategically point of view Bloodmad Vampire is a highly interesting card. Its Madness-cost is and it is a 4/1. I often use it in a defensive way because it is able to kill a x/4 creature on its own. To play it offensive is a bit of a gambling game. But once you successfully attacked twice, it has become a 6/3 monster regarding to the damage-to-player-put-a-+1/+1-counter-on-it ability.

Arrogant Wurm is a third-round 4/4 - trample Madness-drop. Survives a single Lightning Bolt. Hard to block. Over all it is very reliable.

Artifacts

Although this is a pauper-deck, I like to compete with other formats. So it needs to withstand land-destroying mechanisms or Winter Orb. Therefor I use Firewild Borderpost. It can be casted in the first round and provides the player with or in the next round since it comes tapped into play.

Enchantments

Rancor is an extremely powerful card. Providing a creature with +2/0 and trample for and not going to graveyard in the case the creature is destroyed is actually very good.

Sorcery

There is nothing negative to say about Faithless Looting. It's a -mana double-looter. Flashback is a card-advantage ability. This card is beast and pushes the core-mechanism of this deck to the next level.

Firebolt is another Flashback-card which gives the player card-advantage in the late-game and helps to deal with annoying winnies.

Tormenting Voice launches cheap Madness-cards in the early stages of the game. Actually always good to have it in the hand.

Instant

Dangerous Wager is a mid or late-game card. If it is the case that you have no cards in hand, it is two new cards for . And if played in the opponents turn, the player has 3 cards by the next turn with all lands untapped. Real card-advantage.

Fiery Temper is the Madness-Lightning Bolt. Always useful and always good. Along with Kris Mage, x/4 creatures are no longer threats to the player.

Lightning Axe deals 5 damage and it is enough to kill almost any creature. As an additional cost you have to discard a card, which can be Fiery Temper. So by paying it is possible to kill a x/8 monster with this combo. A good target is for example Ulamog's Crusher or a bonused Kavu Primarch. A alternative to discard a card as an additional cost, is paying . So creature-cards like Gurmag Angler, Gathan Raiders, Horned Kavu or Imperiosaur aren't a big deal anymore. Since R/G has no creature-destroying mechanisms, it relies only on direct damage.

Manabase

Evolving Wilds and Terramorphic Expanse are the two basic land fetchers. They slow down the speed since the fetched lands come tapped onto the battlefield, but useful in the most cases because the amount of lands decreases in the rest of the deck and the possibility to draw a non-land card is higher.

Gruul Turf comes also tapped into play, but extremely useful against Winter Orb. And it has a sort of synergy with Rugged Highlands because it can be played out twice which means you get 2 life points.

Weaknesses

Hexproof-creatures decks

Creature-hate decks

Decks with many flying creatures
