Changes: Omen of the Sea in - Temple of Enlightenment out.

I have been meaning to test Omen of the Sea, since I first saw the spoiler. Were unsure when, but then noticed of the Aminatou players around the world, that I was one of the few with 43 lands, so thought can cut one and try this.

Also if you are playing impulse, this is an easy change from impulse since you can blink it with aminatou.

The changes with Omen of the Sea in - Temple of Enlightenment out. will first be used when legal or if can convince my local playgroup to try it out already a few days before on a weekly playday.

Changes - IN Wishclaw Talisman and Bojuka Bog. OUT: Path to Exile and Castle Locthwain.

Reasons Castle never really seemed like it did enough, where bojuka bog makes a bigger impact on games, plus the deck felt like it was missing a card that could keep takeing out graveyard after URO have been made.

Wishclaw over Path. Path is akward often in matchups, where the opponent is trying to ramp, then the remoeal does to litte. I like it in aggro and tempo decks, but in control its downside is to big. Reason why wishclaw, was because last played the deck felt like was missing a tutor, and this is the best one not playing in the deck right now. Also seems a lot of other aminatou players have had succes with it, so testing it again.

Changes - IN: Serra the Benevolent and Faerie Conclave. OUT: Daze and Wasteland Reason - Wasteland banned and Daze seems strong, but sometimes dead, plus better it seems in stronger tournaments then when local play, since less that predict it. Always wanted to test an extra manland, where Conclave seems like a good option currently and Serra seems like a fast finisher. Teferi or ancestral vision will later become WOTS Ashiok to test.

Changes - IN: Ashiok, Dream Render. OUT: Snow-covered Plains. Reason - Had a mana to much in the deck and wanted to test Ashiok.

Changes - IN: Helm of Obedience, Eliminate, Jace, Wielder of Mysteries, Rest in Peace. OUT: Maze of Ith, True-Name Nemesis, Unexpectedly Absent, Gideon, Ally of Zendikar.

Reason:

I wanted to try the more Combo version of Aminatou.

Maze - Got out because was my kind of card that was just in because personally like the card in duel, but power level of the card is not always strong enough.

Unexep Ab - Took it out, because think what it does, eliminate might do better. But will have to playtest to make sure that is right.

Gideon - Took it out to test combo instead of it.

True-Name - Same reason as Gideon, plus the card kills to slow in the deck.

Jace, Helm and RIP - Got in because makes the deck able to win with combo, plus RIP helps against the decks like Uro and Hogaak, which have started to show themself in my meta.

Elminate - Got in because easier to cast then absent and often absent is use to slow walkers or creatures, but absent double white can sometimes be hard early on in the mana base.

Changes - IN: Fetid Heath, Tale's End, Remand, Condescend and Treachery. OUT: Faerie Conclave, Ashiok, Dream Render, Gilded Drake, Logic Knot and Hymn to Tourach.

Reasons:

Faerie Conclave vs Fetid heath - Wanted to get another none tap land into the deck which also color fixed more then one color. Also the extra manland from conclave did often not provide enough to keep it in the deck.

IN:

Tale's End - Its back BABY! I have played this card a long time, one of first to slam it into more decks in DC. But took it out of my aminatou, since had a periode where it only could counter commanders in a meta with 3 Kari Zev decks. This have changed a lot so testing it once more.

Remand - I have a love hate relationship with this card, but the less fast decks the meta get and the enemy decks curve go up, the stronger it get in a control shell, which is the reason I am going to try it again, since what have happendd in my Meta.

Condescend - Scry 2, counter, strong early, weak later often. Good counter and needed more removeals, so looked for this.

Treachery - I love this card, played it in my Keranos and Talrand for ages and often other decks, but does not always feel strong in meta with Kari Zev, Narset and Aminatou, but my meta have switched to some more midrange decks, where the power of this really shines. So testing it again.

OUT:

Gilded Drake - This card can be really really strong in a partner meta, but beside that, not like it really and a while since my meta had 50% partner in it, so it is taken out, since seems to underpreform against every other deck.

Ashiok, Dream Render - This is very strong, but seems weaker in the combo version of amintou, since you already have the graveyard hate in RIP which can be tutored easier. Also the search stopping is not useful against more then max 4-6 cards in my opponents deck (not counting lands), so cutting it. Since often it either felt like a bad card or the best card and I only play cards that feel oki or good. Underpreforming cards in some matchup is not worth it.

Logic Knot - Gotten worse, when both Search for Az and RIP is in the deck, so replaced it with other counters.

Hymn to Tourach - I REALLY REALLY REALLY love this card, and I will admit trying without it, since saw on MTGtop8, that I am apprently the only one using it right now in the deck. So this might come back, but needed space to try more cards.

Changes - In: Heartless Act, Deadly Rollick, Kaya, Ghost Assassin and Opposition Agent. OUT: Go for the Throat, Oath of Liliana, Serra the Benevolent and Dismember.

Reasons:

Heartless Act vs. Go fr the Throat - Heartless, should be able to get rid of more treats then Go should be able to get. So testing this out to see if more "happy" with this instead.

Deadly Rollick vs. Oath of Liliana - I love oath of liliana, but in my meta there is more control, combo and aggro then midrange and oath shines mostly the more creature decks there is. Not that the card is bad, but want to try something else. Where "Deadly" will make it easier to make a aminatou tapped out, so you still got a removeal you can use.

Serra vs. Kaya - Both cards are good, but Serra makeing an angel seems to weak against combo and control, where kaya is stronger with the discard against those deck types. They both seem about even against aggro. Serra is better in a midrange/control meta imo. So trying the change.

Dismember vs. Opposition agent - No great reason other then really want to try opposition agent :D

Changes - IN: Fracture and Vashining Verse. OUT: Opposition Agent and Palace Jailor.

Reasons:

Verse vs. Jailer - Jailer often seems bad against aggro, good against midrange and over avarage in control matchups. Where mirange matchup you already shine, aggro can be rough andd very heavy blue control decks can be bad. Where fast monocolored creatures or walkers are what you loose to where Verse gives an answer to both these problems.

Fracture vs. Opposition Agent - I never actully got to use the agent any time where thought it was strong, often it have been a 3/2 flash creature, which is to bad in the decks. I often wanted to try disenchant, but it seemed to weak, where the extra mode fracture gives, might be enough.

Changes - IN: Subtlety Out: Fracture.

Reasons:

Subtlety stops Ragavan turn 1, where they are on the play for a turn. It also able to counter every kind of commander, both walker and creature. So it have a bigger range, then Fracture, which at times seems unuseable against aggro decks.

Changes - IN: Solitude, Miscast, Damn, Gerrad's Verict and Collective Brutality. OUT: Ancestral Vision, JWOFM, SFA and Condescend.

Reasons:

Lowered the number of cards, that needs time to setup or are good in lategame, to improve early and midgame. Because since the raise of RAGAVAN, every deck in duel needs to be more tune to have more answers and be stronger sooner, then later. Always wanted to test miscast, so it came in. All other cards beside damn is able to gain life, which increase the strength against ragavan. Damn is a multiuse card, where sometimes you want a spot removeal other times a bordwipe. Might be changed again before the Danish Championship in Duel-commander 2021 15 august.

Prixx says... #15

Changes - IN: Prismatic Ending and Bloodchief's Thirst. OUT: Treachery and Remand.

Reasons:

I need more early spot removeals against Ragavan, the deck have already made a huge impact on the decks played in the Danish scence of Duel-commander. Why take Treachery and Remand out for them? Treachery is a strong lategame card with a lot of value, but not what we need right now. Remand could had been miscast or miscalculation instead, but wanted to keep miscast because testing it right now and miscalculation can counter the card so it does not return (unless it come back from the GY) and also able to be cycle, so more flexiable. Where remand is not that strong against aggro decks.

Prixx says... #16

Changes - IN: Portable Hole. OUT: Subtlety.

Reason:

Subtlety is a very strong card, but often is fairly bad against fast decks. Plus the thing with they can put the card in the bottom gives a to weak "memory lapse" effect, which is very sstrong to give bad draws to the opponent. Why Hole? Because needed 1-2 more 1 drop removeals in the new Duel (Ragavan) commander meta. Plus it takes a lot of 2 mana problems like Sylvan lib, Search and similar card filter/avantages. Plus it can be blinked if the opponent does not put their commander under it.

Changes - IN: Out of Time, Council's judgement, Portable Hole, Jace, wielder of myteries. OUT: Miscast, Gerrad's verict, Oust, Heartless Act.

Reason -

After Ragavan have been banned, the deck can have its cmc increased agian, plus with the rise of more midrange and control decks need better lategame/effective removeals.

August 9, 2021 6:19 p.m.

Prixx says... #20

Changes - IN: Oblivion Ring. OUT: Out of Lilliana.

Reason -

To gain more stronger removeals to get rid of all kind of threats. Also makes it better to fight off blood moon, which can mean big trouble.

August 12, 2021 4:37 p.m.

Prixx says... #21

Changes - IN: Oust. OUT: Solitude.

Reasons -

Oust is the better effective card, since it only need one card early. Solitude is better in late game, but if you reach five mana against a creature deck you often already have stabilised or want a boardwipe instead. Yes solitude can be free, but that speed it gives is not as importent, when Ragavan is not something you can play anymore (since it got banned).

Changes - IN: Oath of Liliana, Omen of the Sun, Yorion, Sky Nomad and Snow-covered Swamp. OUT: Kaya, Ghost Assassin, Damn, Oblivion Ring and Silundi Vision.

Reasons -

I wanted to try Yorion and increase blink targets in the deck, plus had to improve the overall effectiveness against creature decks. Since in Denmark, Minsc won over me in the final of the danish championship 2021. This made me realise, that I had to increase my power against midrange and aggro again. Which the cards I am going to try should help with. So getting a slight nerf against control and about same towards combo.

Prixx says... #24

Changes - IN: Curse of Silence and Energy Field. OUT: Council's Judgment and Yorion, Sky Nomad.

Reason -

Wanted to test field and curse out. Yorion always seemed like a win more card or a vanilla 4/5 creature and Council was the removeal right now that seemed least importent in the current danish meta.

Changes - IN: Court of Grace, Dakkoon, Shadow Slayer, Damn, Mystic Sanctuary, Gitaxian Probe and Remand. OUT: Portable Hole, Vindicate, Energy Field, Curse of Silence, Vanishing Verse and Creeping Tar Pit.

Reasons -

Want to test a few cards not tried in aminatou yet. Also wanted to see if can improve the mid and late game against the more creature heavy meta there is in Denmark right now.
