Please +1 this build, its awesome I promise :D
This deck is based off of baby zoo that was once popular. With the banning of pod this deck is now possible again.
This deck is different than a normal zoo build. This deck uses a few new cards for tempo, recovery and late game damage. The new cards are
Atarka's Command
, Soulfire Grand Master and Collected Company.
Atarka's allows me to do three damage as well as get either a free extra land drop (to get further ahead) or add +1+1 and reach to my creatures (generally adds another 2 dmg as well as the ability to block flying, which zoo has never been able to handle)
Soulfire allows me to get life back from all of my shocks (which is critical to my speed), allows for better chance to survive late game because my damage instants now give me life, so a bolt is now a helix and a helix is now a bolt + 6 life. The best part of soulfire is that if i stall out and cant get past my opponents defences, I can use soulfire's ability to deal damage/exile and pop things back to my hand. This allows me to get around particular control archtypes.
Lastly collected company allows me to dig for when I am losing or need a mid game surprise. Collected company is great against decks that run Liliana as well as boardwipes. It is also a good way to surprise finish players as they may do the math for damage and not be able to take into account a collected company at the end of their turn. But more importantly it is a way to recover from wipes as well as being behind; a sudo card draw...not actually card draw, but gives me an advantage of 1 card doing a few things.
The burn spells are very important to this deck. The creatures are good mostly for early game damage but generally cant get past good defenses. They can generally do 11-12 dmg before I cant swing against a great deck. The burn spells do the last 9 damage that I cant sneak past.
This deck has proven itself to be worthy so far...does struggle do particular combo decks like twin and polyemmy. But the sideboard that I run allows for me to generally handle my weaknesses.
