Zaxara, the Exemplary’s lore is very simple. He’s so toxic that the other hydras use the slime that oozes from his body to make themselves more dangerous. With a 2/3 body, he doesn’t seem to dangerous, but appearance is only skin deep. Other than deathtouch his other two abilities are what has centered focus with the players that love this card. My focus is on the second ability of this mana dork to go infinite mana with Freed from the Real or Pemmin's Aura. This is not the only mana looper combination in the deck, but a wonderful one at the ready. The next goal is to use that mana to race to the win condition by dumping all that mana into something. The deck usually wins by between turns 5-7, but has won as fast as turn 2. A turn 1 win is possible, but very unlikely.

Avenues of Approach

• Demonic Consultation or Tainted Pact to get rid of the library

• Kamahl's Druidic Vow will unhinge the library and drop Jace with Thrasios, Triton Hero. Hold priority and activate Jace for a draw for the win. Even if they have a response to get rid of Jace, Thrasios will be present to force a draw on the stack in response to anything the opposition attempt.

• Genesis Hydra or Hydroid Krasis or Kinnan, Bonder Prodigy or Green Sun's Zenith or Finale of Revelation will dig for you. Just keep in mind on what color combinations you can make from your mana generator.
