(HOU update) Just An Old Fashioned "No" Deck,
Shutting down everything you throw
Advice welcome, I still consider myself fairly new to this play style.
7/19/17 I found a few places to play standard at and have been diligently getting as many games in before half the deck rotates out in a few months (I have plans though, some replacements are already obvious).
Overall, I've been doing pretty good. Lady luck still frowns on me from time to time, but things work the way they're supposed to most of the time. Now that I have most of the wrinkles ironed out and some experience playing it, the deck has earned me a number of free packs. Now that HOU is out, it's time to update.
The Scarab God looks like a nice 2-of in the sideboard once Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet rotates. I wouldn't bother before that without overhauling the deck to include more zombies. The potential for that kind of deck is there though.....
Hour of Glory may end up earning a place depending on the meta, 4 cmc is a bit high though to include more than 2. With Grasp of Darkness rotating out soon, I will need some sort of replacement lowish cmc removal. There were a few potentials in the set, but new stuff will becoming in october so I'll look at my options then rather than list every new black removal here when most of it won't be worth bothering with when the time comes.
Bontu's Last Reckoning could also find a place in sideboard, possibly mainboard eventually depending on how my local meta settles. Casting it off of As Foretold could be decent play.
Mostly though, I'm excited about Supreme Will. The choice between a fairly hefty counterspell or a beefed up Anticipate makes it pretty attractive. once Anticipate rotates Supreme Will will most likely be an automatic 4-of. It may end up being that now to be fair. Playing this deck as much as I have now, I always wish I could get a few more counterspells in. I mean, I only have 5-7 mainboard depending on recent tweaks. But more than that and you end up with too much vs. certain decks and they sit in your hand. Supreme Will is just a great multi purpose card that you will rarely regret drawing in any match up.
If it's good enough for a folder, it's good enough for an upvote
