I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid you can't do that.

I'm pretty sure that literally every one of my 75 is a value card.

The denial and permission suite look great. It's refreshing to also to see Shadow of Doubt and cute girls in a deck profile.

anooshapalooza I'm going to jam 2 Shadow of Doubt in basically all my blue decks. It's so good. I am in full agreement that there are not enough cute girls in TO decklists.

JexInfinite, can you refrain from using backgrounds on your decks please? It's supposed to be a user profile only thing as users can evade profiles and still be able to look at everything that user made. They can't evade decks, and will limit the function and accessibility of many users.

Femme_Fatale In both my 16:9 and 4:3 monitors, the background is obscured by the interface. If I were to change the entire page to a background, that would definitely be something you could take issue with, but in the current state, the interface does a pretty good job of showing small sections of the image, as to not intrude.

On phones, I would assume that the background would be even more obscured, and since the image file itself is relatively small, loading times should not, and are not (I've got a couple people to test it out) a problem. The TO interface loads before the background.

If having a background is literally the worst thing I could possibly do, please explain to me why this is so, and I will remove it. I feel no obligation to remove the background as it is, because it's not obscuring or intruding upon the TO interface.

It's called having users being unable to load your deck pages because any form of image or alteration to code does cause various mobile devices extreme loading times. Even regular computers are reported to have extremely heavy loading times on even the most basic of alterations. Added to that, different browsers experience different effects when you start fiddling with the code. Which is why I say leave it for you profile. There's no need to spancify your deck pages and it will just cause for irritation in some users.

Femme_Fatale But how do we quantify the irritation for a minority of users compared to the acceptance of a larger number? Unless you're using dial-up, the the loading times for a computer are reasonable, and the TO interface loads first anyway. At the moment, my internet is being pretty slow (objectively slow, not in relation to what it usually is), and the deck page is loading relatively quickly.

The reason I added the background is because it is from the inspiration behind the name of the deck, 2001: A Space Odyssey. It adds to the atmosphere of the theme, and makes the page look a whole lot nicer than boring, bland, and bleak TO brown. The sacrifice of loading times for a handful of people is worth it to me, because I spend more time than anyone else on this page.

Irritated or frustrated people about a certain function will not raise their concerns to that function a majority of the time. So even if you think it is a minority, it is MUCH larger than that. I would also prefer not to have every section of the site altered for our personal needs. The profiles are getting bad enough and I'm regretting having spreading information about them, the site doesn't need it to spread to all the deck pages too.

this is an off topic discussion. the only eligible discussion on decks is covered in the comment tutorial.

Femme_Fatale It only becomes a concern once the functionality of the site is affected i.e. difficult to read text, obscured buttons and links, excessive use of crap which makes the page hard to navigate, animations. Loading times do not affect the functionality of the site.

I feel like you don't have much draw but then again you can flash them back. I also don't play modern so take my advice with a grain of salt.

Bnon In modern, I don't like to pointlessly draw cards. If I did, Think Twice would be played. I like every card in my 75 to have a specific use, and drawing cards is just not good enough for me. (Sphinx's Revelation is an exception, because it's an x cost spell, and gains life, too.) Many people criticise UWR control for not having enough draw, but you play draw go quite a lot, so it's not as much of an issue.

In standard, you need to draw cards because you have a lot of 1 for 1s, and the overall card quality is much lower.

yeah I mostly play standard (I actually play this deck in standard) and in standard I have a lot of draw

So after coming back from a GPT 4-1 with boggles in a Grixis Delver Meta, and killing god-only-knows-how-many Tasigur, the Value train and Gurmag Angler I was talking to my friend (A very devoted USA Control player) about all the value that man produced. Then I came across this deck, I love the idea.

posiden666 I love Gasigur in this deck (no typo) because his ability is absolutely insane. Hell yeah I'm gonna get rid of those Remands, leaving only a Cryptic in the grave, only to mill a land and another Cryptic. I've had a couple suggestions of Gurmag Angler, but a dead fish can't reanimate my value spells.

posiden666 says... #19

Totally agree on both points. He delivers so much value. Angler is only good if you want tempo. You don't seem concerned with tempo.

Absolutely love the title for the deck.

For whatever reason, I'm not a big fan of Shadow of a Doubt. If you want to use it to draw to a counterspell, either lift it for another counterspell, or for something like Ponder. If you want to use it for messing with your opponents lands, you ARE running red, so you could splash some LD.

Shadow of Doubt IS land destructin. Really, really powerful land destruction.

May 20, 2015 5:48 a.m.

JexInfinite says... #23

Shadow of Doubt is the best land destruction, and also hates on particular decks. You can screw with Tron's Expedition Map and Sylvan Scrying. You can laugh at Scapeshift and Primeval Titan and there's a fun combo with Path to Exile.

At worst, it cantrips. At best, it wins the game because we can such a huge advantage.

Kjartan says... #24

It's hate against Scapeshift is also just so important. It's a horrible matchup for USA.

Kjartan Not so much with Tasigur, but Shadow is always relevant.
