This is my competitive Kroxa Stax deck.

Why Kroxa?

Just when you think having your cards countered is bad, imagine having to discard at random until your top-decking.

Why Stax?

Kroxa and Stax go together like peanut butter and jelly. Like cream in coffee. Like the lace to the sho- Alright, alright you get it. How so you ask? Kroxa has something not many other commanders have. An alternative casting cost of + Escape. That means, you don't pay tax effects. (It's also considered an alternative casting cost so cards like Cursed Totem don't hurt you.) Okay I get it. I don't have to cough up loads of commander tax when Kroxa dies. When does the Stax come into play? Making players discard cards actually IS a form of stax in-itself. Kroxa is dedicated to keeping your opponents hands empty. We accelerate this strategy with some additional cards like Bottomless Pit Liliana of the Veil and Liliana, Waker of the Dead. I really like waker, her plus ability is identical to Kroxa. Then we add additional stax to the battlefield like: Stranglehold, Leyline of the Void, Blood Moon, Winter Orb, Cursed Totem, to really really damper things. Opponents literally have to top deck for answers.

Alright. I'm amused. How do I pilot this deck?

The first and most important thing we have to do is examine the battlefield on turns 1 through 3. Don't forget we're playing a control deck! How many non-basics are they running? Do I fetch for swamps and Blood Moon here? How many mana rocks do they have? They don't have ANY? Should I Winter Orb? Remember, my list runs lots of rocks and Kroxa has alternative casting costs. Winter orb away! Are they trying to combo out with Kinnan, Bonder Prodigy? Cursed Totem can end commanders fairly quickly. Don't forget about Stranglehold.

We can go straight into applying stax affects OR we can fire up our draw engine. We're gonna have a Rhystic Study in / that rather then draws us cards when people cast spells, draws us cards when they discard. GRIN. >:] Geth's Grimoire and Waste Not are two staple cards for Kroxa. Attack with Kroxa and uptick a Liliana in the same main phase and draw 8 cards. Or Ramp, or get bodies with Waste not.

Okay so now what? How do I win

Worldgorger Dragon Combo of course! (If you never heard of this combo please Youtube it!) We go infinite mana and use Kroxa herself as the wincon.

Example 1: Combo with dragon, gain infinite . Stop combo. Cast Kroxa from command zone. Both her triggers go on the stack and resolve (Whenever Kroxa enters the battlefield or attacks, each opponent discards a card, then each opponent who didn't discard a nonland card this way loses 3 life.) FIRST. Then sacrifice her putting her back inside the command zone and continue to repeat until everyone is dead.

Example 2: If Kroxa is already on the battlefield you resolve (Whenever Kroxa enters the battlefield or attacks, each opponent discards a card, then each opponent who didn't discard a nonland card this way loses 3 life.) First and then the Worldgorger trigger before her sacrifice trigger. Giving you infinite enter the battlefield triggers. Killing everyone.
