Not your typical "Counter" deck, as in it isnt a "counter spell" deck.
The idea is simple, enough Coretappers or
Energy Chamber
s for Magistrate's Scepter, and later for Darksteel Reactor, and you have infinite turns until you win!
To speed things up, cast Astral Cornucopia for zero mana, putting it into play with zero charge counters -- which is okay because Coretapper,
Energy Chamber
, and Power Conduit can help.
Winter Orb hurts your opponent more than it hurts you, thanks to Astral Cornucopia & Friends.
Aphetto Alchemist helps Coretapper and/or Power Conduit do their thang. Thousand-Year Elixir helps Aphetto Alchemist and Coretapper by making their abilities available immediately. Speed is key in this deck. Which Aether Vial also helps with in several ways -- it serves as a Charge Counter ("CC") donor for Power Conduit, it works with Winter Orb in getting your creatures out faster than your opponent without having to rely so much on Land-derived mana sources, and since you "may" place a CC on it at beginning of your upkeep, you can strategically forgo that addition, keeping the number of CC's at two, which is the converted mana cost for both Coretapper and
Alphetto Alchemist
, or you can have it rack up CC's for Power Conduit -- whichever you need. The decision is certainly strategic, and should prioritize speed and efficiency for using Magistrate's Scepter.
Howling Mine and Coersive Portal will help you draw extra cards each turn -- which will be needed for speed and efficiency.
WinCon is met using Darksteel Reactor.
