I'd add Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx to take advantage of your devotion to black. This could improve your rate of getting creatures out and make Hythonia the Cruel monstrous sooner in the game. I'm a fan of Avatar of Woe and understand your thoughts behind it for this deck, but it's best suited for a mill deck in my opinion. I'm also not keen on Demonlord of Ashmouth , Guul Draz Assassin , or Grave Betrayal for this deck. Maybe Master of the Feast , Rakdos Cackler , and Thoughtseize would be good additions? Also, Lifebane Zombie and Gray Merchant of Asphodel would be great.

Im gonna take out Demonlord of ashmouth for master of the feast. But i like Grave Betrayal because it combos so well in the deck. The Guul Draz Assassin is really helpful but slow so i might consider replacing it. Avatar of Woe im keeping because i get land really fast in this deck and getting him out usually isnt a problem. Plus the kill a turn is just to great to give up.

Inquisition of Kozilek or Thoughtseize comes out really nice. Phyrexian Obliterator 4 devotion plus a nasty ability. Phyrexian Arena if you are running out of cards.

again it's all expensive. I would trade out the Master of the Feast s for the Obliterators in a heartbeat if it wouldn't cost me $90. $30 bucks a pop aint cheap, and Liliana of the Veil is the single most expensive planeswalker printed. Also Phyrexian Arena is a good idea what should i take out?

TheLoneWolf227 budget? alright, and take out the doom blade most likely. Could be a dead draw against someone running black. Although a little more expensive Surgical Extraction 1 or 2 can't hurt too much. Mogis's Marauder pushes a lot of damage through. Geth's Verdict instead of Doomblade or Hideous End Go for the Throat is better, wider range of removal.Hypnotic Specter hand removal is always good. plus +2 devotion. Korlash, Heir to Blackblade more expensive but beautiful in mono black. Dismember or Tragic Slip against indestructible. A lot of choices

um my sideboard addresses alot of that. i just keep the doomblades into the main for aesthetics. I usually run my Dark Betrayal and Go for the Throat . I really Like Geth's Verdict. This is why i Like Black Kill. There's a card for every occasion. I like Hideous end for the life it takes. That extra 2 or 4 makes a difference. when you are playing the swing until you run out of spells game.

Sideboard? Try Grafdigger's Cage , Torpor Orb , Pithing Needle

if you want aggro what about Gnarled Scarhide or Tormented Hero

I like my Beefier options. I would put those in definitely if this was a standard deck...makes me want to make a standard version. And for the sideboard. I got Leyline of the Void for the Cage. And for the other tow. what should i take out for them?

i could even see Spiteful Returned as useful in modern though too

I love all non-standard mono-black decks by definition. But Ob Nixilis is way to slow. Switch for Fulminator Mage s and watch the opponent rage.

Ehhh it kills me because i designed this a strict mono-black with no other influences...but look at him.

What would you say to running four Abyssal Persecutor

Even with allt he removal, I don't think Persecutor is decent enough... Pull them and Ob out for the champion of mono-black: Phyrexian Obliterator . I didn't put up my deck, but I used to run a mono-black Modern deck for a long time. Obliterator is always a 4 of, even in aggro. 4 mana for a 5/5 is already more than what most creatures give for their mana, then throw in trample, they lose life if they try to bolt, and it's nuts for Gray Merchant. Persecutor seems good at first, but in my experience, it doesn't really work the way you want it to.
