Reki, the History of Kamigawa

Commander / EDH*

WarlordWiggles

A super casual commander deck for pods at my local where my competitive decks are too strong. While this variant of the deck is about as casual as it gets, I will list some of the more powerful cards and combos that I did not include intentionally.

Short description of what this deck is trying to accomplish: Reki, the History of Kamigawa is fairly unique in that he triggers off a card supertype instead of subtype. He's weak in that he's only a single color but that is mitigated by the color that he is. Green is extremely powerful in general as its the color of mana acceleration and big creatures.

Reki plays a key role in that he draws a card for each legendary spell you cast. Not just creature spells, but artifacts and echantment spells as well. He does not trigger off lands coming into play, as you aren't casting them.

Green makes great use of his ability because many of the biggest legendary creatures are Green, and he just creates a loop where you're doing what the deck wants and keeping up the card advantage because of him. If you can get one or two big legends in play because of him and cast something like Asceticism, you can quickly run away with a game.

The big weakness with this deck (like many that want to be big Timmy decks) is Mass Removal. We play a couple of cards that help protect us from that, in the form of Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre to shuffle our graveyard back into our library thus mitigating things like Wrath of God which Asceticism cannot provide protection from. Asceticism along with Heroic Intervention are ran for single target removal and for mass burn.
