LVL_666 Thank you! I love this deck and thought it was time to spruce up its description.

I'm currently building a similar deck with the same commander. One thing I did run into was that Day's Undoing doesn't actually let the triggers resolve on things like your commander and Underworld Dreams. As it ends the turn and anything that would be triggered doesn't happen.

Matt Tabak of WOTC stated "If you cast Day's Undoing, any abilities that trigger before you start ending the turn won't happen (i.e. ones like Sphinx's Tutelage)" which would also Nekusar triggers.

I put in Shreds of Sanity as a nice replacement for the same CMC. Looking forward to testing out my prototype and hope you win many games.

Damn. Well, thank you for letting me know that! Hm. I do like Shreds of Sanity but I've been trying to find a spot here for Memory Jar and even though it's more expensive, I think it could do some real work. Only more playtesting will tell!

This deck is beautiful. Your explanations for why each card is in is very helpful. +1!

Pretty good except for one thing... has no tutors, ramp, removal, wipes, or countermagic, which really screws over Nekusar decks

To be honest control cards have been in and out of this deck a lot. I playtest a lot and sometimes they feel dead in my hands so I take them out. But, I guess control cards are a lot like condoms and guns... It's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

Neko-Te or Sigil of Sleep would be pretty effective on your boss, Fate Unraveler or Kederekt Parasite. Gratuitous Violence works with all three at once.

Wait, you have 30 land, no rocks, an average cmc of 3.38 and very little cheap draw (2 cmc or less) to smooth out your land drops up to 5-6 so you can drop your commander/win cons. 30 land in 99 card deck is the same as less than 20 land in a 60 card deck and the only decks that do that are decks that curve out at 3-4, have land ramp and/or have 1-2 cmc can-trips that smooth out land drops.

Tell me I'm missing something, because it seems like you won't see 3 lands in your opening hand most draws and have built the deck based on the ability to unlimited casual mulligan into a playable hand, which seems like it would have to be 3 lands + a wheel or howling mine effect. Even then your mana is so tight and has no ramp that if your commander gets killed twice you're probably not going to get him out again.

If you want all the draw triggers for Chasm Skulker and Psychosis Crawler try adding Arjun, the Shifting Flame constantly having a new hand is fun too!

4th highest Nekusar deck and still I don't see the cards I'm looking for. I mean, you've got Phyrexian Tyranny at least, but where's your Words of Waste or Words of War to combo with it?

TheRedGoat Hm. Those are quite interesting, actually! I can definitely test them.

The deck looks really fun. I just wonder how did you manage to cut about 5 lands and something like 5 artifact ramp spells?

Yeah that's 10 extra slots for some fun extra cards, but don't you find yourself completely mana screwed a lot?

It is actually a lot of fun to play! Like it points out in the description this deck isn't meant to be competitive, I don't ever play in situations where I'm against T1 decks or anything. That being said, yes it can fall victim to poor land draws. But I've noticed with 3 mana on the board you can abuse wheels to find lands or use the low cost draw advantage cards to frantically draw and pray. (Kind of like spray and pray in an FPS lol)

Basically, if you like the list but want to make it competitive by replacing cards you don't see as necessary with lands and ramp spells then by all means do so! I was just looking to pack as much power into a deck as possible while keeping its CMC manageable :)

I threw together a similar list with the cards I have on hand last night and it was really a lot of fun to play (most of the cards I own are grixis colors). I didn't even have half of the amount of wheels you use, and had to use a few sharpie proxies, but it still worked out. Won 3 games in a row!

And I see you added a few of the big boy mana ramp artfiacts afterall haha

Well that's good news, I'm happy to hear your version performed well! What kind of deck(s) did you play against?

Yes and I'm glad you commented again I wanted to thank you for the suggestion without a double post lol. I did some testing and it was well worth the tweak

All the games were with 3 players. One guy was playing Bant Angel tribal all night, while the other played Kaalia, Marchesa, and Maelstrom Wanderer. Tonight I lost a game against some different people playing with Marath and Teferi (planeswalker).

The games were great though. The deck makes people moan and complain which is exactly why I play grixis, but it's not overpowered. Thanks for the list!

Alright, I was wondering that too. I was going to ask if you 1v1'd and used the sideboard but no worries. How did you find the control to fare? Did it incorporate itself in a big way at any point?

I'm glad you had fun man, thank you for your thoughts! It's awesome that you love grixis for the same reason I do: Eye rolling and irritation inducing fun. Not broken, but hard to deal with!

If you want to see what a Competitive tuned multiplayer nekusar decklist looks like, i've been playing him since printing and ive tuned and invested a lot of time and money into him, maybe you'll get some ideas :)

Cerebral Vortex could be deadly if you play with Twincast Reverberate Increasing Vengeance and/or Fork

I have had that card in and out of my main and side boards a few times. I think it's a better fit than Liliana Vess so I'm going to swap her out for it. Thanks! :)
