Slaughter games is al so an amazing 1 of to keep in the SB. It can hose some decks amazingly, like splinter twin or tron or random combo stuff.

I'm tempted to say that Choke might be better than Boil just because your opponents most likely won't have any enchant/artifact hate in against you in Game 2, so Choke, allows them to use a new Island once whereas Boil is a one shot deal, and if you don't finish them soon enough, they could get their mana base back up and potentially win.

I hope that is good advice, but I could be wrong. Just a thought.

Hey very nice jund list! I envy you have goyfs lol. I was curious since you also own a jund deck if you could take a look at mine and see where i could make improvements on it. Its my one modern deck and i want to make it as powerful as possible just lack sufficent funding for goyf and lili. Still would apreciate you taking a glimpse over it. Also was curious to why all the jund lists seem to prefer Kitchen Finks over Courser of Kruphix so i was curious if you could shed some light as to why. Also how do you side agaisnt burn? I very little for burn match ups

Jund ain't dead (PAX EAST) is my modern jund list. I hope its not weak and that you can help me improve my one and only modern deck!

@Jamesfurrow Courser simply doesn't provide life fast enough, whearas Kitchen Finks gains life immidietly.

this deck is very good. i see some idiots running Night of Souls' Betrayal, but i think its terrible. how about Surgical Extraction?

bah-bammmm says... #6

i know Dreadbore sees play against tron.

August 26, 2015 2:22 p.m.

gnarlicide says... #7

I haven't run extraction in a while. I usually place it in if Tron gets played more. I was thinking about it against all the Grixis decks running around but I haven't tested it.

Dreadbore is a different story, though. Sorcery speed is sort of a huge setback. With the exception of trons PWs, I can't really see it getting played.

that is very fair. i still see it used against tron though. i would only put it in if a lot of people play tron at your lgs.

Any tips for an aspiring jund player?

Comment on my decklist please, I have the idea for the deck in my head and it's in progress but like I said I know what I need, so card suggestions aren't really needed (Trust me, I've read tons of articles and heard tons of suggestions), but what i would like is tips and tricks to play the game better and win hard matchups. Appreciate your time! :D

Hey man thanks for the tips, I was wondering why you have the Dismember in place of your third Terminate? Doesn't terminate seem better?

August 30, 2015 8:15 p.m.

gnarlicide says... #11

The dismember is available for trickery. That's the only reason why I use it over terminate. For "gotchas"

phaze08 says... #12

Yeah I think that's it's best purpose I just wonder if it's good enough to warrant a spot over terminate. For 2 mana it's 2 life, 1 mana it's 4 life, and at best it only kills an x/5, so not sure I'm sold, LOL

It's worked for me pretty well for quite sometime.

I may test this, I have some in my possession.

Versatile removal is what's important. So I personally spread the love around when it comes to spot removal. It could easily be another maelstrom pulse. But that's if tokens and tron show up a lot. It kills Master of Waves in game 1 pretty easily.

phaze08 says... #16

Yeah master of waves can be hard to deal with. It's a pretty good spell. I may play with it.

have you tried Rending Volley in sideboard yet?

September 3, 2015 12:57 p.m.

phaze08 says... #18

Personally, I feel like Rending Volley and Combust, Deathmark, Slay, etc, are just too narrowminded. Slaughter Pact, on the other hand is pretty versatile but I feel like extra creature removal isn't exactly what jund needs sideboard. Maybe if there are lots of troublesome permanents in your meta, then Abrupt Decay or Maelstrom Pulse could be good but there is more than enough creature removal I feel like in jund. gnarlicide thoughts?

bah-bammmm says... #19

Shatterstorm is great against affinity.

September 3, 2015 2:36 p.m.

gnarlicide says... #20

I used to run rending volley as a 2 of. But only if you're in a super twin heavy meta. It helps for extra reach. I would even suppose it would be good against a UWx control with colonnade and all

Personally, I don't use it anymore since both of those match ups are already in our favor.

But there are times where it makes like easier. And for that it is an option.

There are too many black creatures for slaughter pact to be amazing anymore and death mark is only really good against Junk.

It bears repeating that unconditional and versatile removal is what we need in these trying times. Lol.

Shatterstorm is too narrow for me right now. Damnation is the way to go.

September 3, 2015 4:02 p.m.

grumbledore says... #21

yea i love Damnation. seems like 2x board sweep would be good. do you think 2x Damnation is too heavy-handed? i also like Anger of the Gods and Drown in Sorrow. kind of a toss up.

September 3, 2015 4:45 p.m.

gnarlicide says... #22

Two damnation is actually pretty good. I am assuming you are referring to joe hererra's list? That was a good call on him. I am actually in the market for another one.

September 4, 2015 12:06 a.m.

gnarlicide says... #23

I don't think 2 damnation is too heavy handed. Drown in sorrow is sort of weak, I would rather play anger of the gods. Maybe a 2/1 split between damnation and anger. But I personally would just go 2x damnation. It's a catch all

grumbledore says... #24

Cool. Nah it wasn't that list but I'm gonna look it up lol. It's for my modern jund list: The Modern Jundhole, which is very much inspired by your own list :)
