Have a seat, this is going to take a while.
PERFECT HAND (which can combo out on turn 2):
4x
Forest
,
Rofellos, Llanowar Emissary
,
Fastbond
Staff of Domination
Turn one: play a
Forest
and then cast
Fastbond
and follow up by placing the other three
Forest
on the field and then cast a
Rofellos, Llanowar Emissary
Turn 2: Cast
Staff of Domination
be sure to pay for this with land. And then combo.
A little backstory:
My thought was " I wonder if I can keep drawing my entire deck whilst being able to constantly untap
Marwyn, the Nurturer
? to just keep going up in mana? Well then I stumbled across a goldmine.
I recently found an interesting combo with
Umbral Mantle
and thought you know.. I could apply that to my own Elf deck with
Marwyn, the Nurturer
or
Elvish Archdruid
. Marwyn didn't make the final cut but we can get the combo with either the archdruid or
Rofellos, Llanowar Emissary
. We can also find which ever elf we need with
Elvish Harbinger
depending if you have enough elves or lands whichever comes first. With the combo, I preferred
Staff of Domination
and then if we have at least 4 elves/lands on the battlefield, we have access to infinite mana.
And now the actual story (keep in mind all of this can trigger as early as turn 4):
This originally was designed as an elf tribal deck but has since morphed into something...really special. Or annoying, depending on whichever side of the table you sit on.
Genesis Wave
is the secret weapon here. With access to infinite mana, we can draw the entire deck quite literally. The only thing that won't make it is the other sorcery's you haven't drawn already but...meh. We have a solution for that later. HOT TIP -If this spell gets countered, keep drawing with the staff until your next wave or eventually draw your deck anyway.
STEP 1!!
Now, it's go time. You will want to set yourself up with some safeguards as you're going to have some decisions to make later. Firstly, don't stress because your ol' buddy
Grand Abolisher
is going to stop those silly people sitting at the table ruining a beautiful moment.. or couple of moments - this goes for a while. So no board wipes here, no counter spells, no shenanigans what so ever. Secondly, the staff can be used to give yourself infinite life and then be used to tap all of the opponents creatures, just to be sure those pesky little creatures don't do anything too cheeky. This will come in handy later and you'll see why. Also don't stress if they have hexproof because
Detection Tower
makes sure that they don't.
Here is how you need to play the next part:
So you'll notice that we have two
Gaea's Blessing
- the two are crucial. When the G-wave resolves(yeah i said it..), it will send all of our sorcery's into the graveyard but the blessing will save all of them and return all cards in the graveyard to our library. What card we are looking for next is
Mastermind's Acquisition
which we are going to cast with one of the few choices being
Birds of Paradise
,
Elvish Harbinger
or some lands because of
Joiner Adept
but I would prefer not to use the adept - this card is here in case we need them to cast a tutor before the combo to find one of the pieces. It's really funny when your friends ask "IS THAT EVEN LEGAL?!" a few times because they just don't believe you heheh. I'm sure now you can understand that we have access to infinite mana of any colour. I said we'd be going to infinity.. well now it's time to go to the beyond as promised. With Gaea we can continuously abuse the acquisition and pull out every card from the sideboard (or your collection in a casual environment) which has been handpicked with extreme purpose. NEXT draw cards with the staff until you hit the Acquisition, cast it and pick your wincon/s from the sideboard which I'll cover each of them below - if you have a G-wave and no Gaea's then use that which will return everything back to the library and now you recycle that process if you want to keep dipping into your sideboard. When it comes to looping your
Mastermind's Acquisition
, you may end up in the scenario that you have all of your sorcery's back into your hand because you drew them out with the Staff and the Acquisition was the final card to draw from your library. This is how I would suggest playing it out:
Mastermind's Acquisition
>
Gaea's Blessing
> draw and castcard:Mastermind Acquisition > the second
Gaea's Blessing
targeting the first two spells and then draw for the second part > when you draw, if you draw a Blessing, draw again with a staff and then repeat. If you draw the Acquisition, use a
Genesis Wave
which will reveal the blessing and then put it into the graveyard triggering the bottom line of text and put both back into your library along with the Genesis. That's right - infinite sorcery's too.
Ok check it out..
HERE'S HOW WE WIN AND LOSE FRIENDS
STEP 2!!
-
Imperious Perfect
and a
Golgari Guildmage
because infinite mana isn't enough so why not go ahead and add infinite 1/1 Elf Warriors and make all of your creatures have infinite power and toughness. In tandem with this; give them flying, first strike, vigilance, trample, haste and protection from black and red thanks to
Akroma's Memorial
.
-
The thing about infinite is that it doesn't stop. So let's have infinite turns with
Nexus of Fate
.
-
Can't do damage for some reason? why not use
Exsanguinate
(multiplayer friendly).
-
Feel like winning a different way? give
Helix Pinnacle
a spin or if you rather making a "player lose", open the
Door to Nothingness
which I decided to include 2 of just in case you want to try it in multiplayer and then abuse them with the Renaissance.
-
Does the opponent have protection from a colour?
Blind Seer
can also change all of your spells to another colour. Or you can use
Blind Seer
to change the colour of the Exsanguinate if you need.
-
Protection from elves? Silly opponent - our creatures can be any type we want with
Conspiracy
and if you feel like being a real butthead you can change them to goblins and then use
Earthblighter
to destroy all of their lands (lol.. oh sorry, being serious).
-
Don't feel like losing (as if you could at this point)?
Platinum Angel
too...
-
Oh, and those tapped creatures I told you I would tell you more about (here it comes :O -->)??
Sunblast Angel
can get rid of those in a flash.
-
I know you think this is too many ways to win well what I say to that is "SHUT YA MOUTH AND WATCH ME WIN ANOTHER WAY!" ...yep, you can mill them too if you like with
Blue Sun's Zenith
or maybe you want to mill yourself? Drop
Laboratory Maniac
down and target yourself with the
Blue Sun's Zenith
And there you have it. Everything you see in this deck is extremely purposeful and I think I have managed to make something that I don't think I've seen before in an (mostly) Elf deck or at least isn't quite as common.
If you wish to have the same fun but save a little money, my To Infinity.. AND BEYOND! Budget Edition will certainly accommodate you. One final tip is that I suggest not revealing every win con to your friends just to show off. Let them slowly realise over time, that you can beat them any way you like. Use the method that guarantees your win and don't make it more painful than it needs to be because I can speak from experience and tell you that friends don't like sitting there watching you do what you need to do when they know you've already won (even though it makes us feel pure ecstasy).
Any tips, comments or kind suggestions, feel free to leave a comment. If you infinitely enjoy this, leave a +1 infinitely.
