Maybeboard

RUG Creatureless, featuring Riku with a unique and restrictive role: he's used exclusively for his instant/sorcery copying skill and literally nothing else.

There is no protection suite built in for him because of how little we need him; he usually attracts a fair amount of hate on his own due to silly copy-everything-riku decks that run around, so unless he's absolutely needed around for one or two more spellcasts, it's not worth throwing a counter or other spell out to protect him. Typically we will only cast him 1 or 2 times, rarely 3, and his ability is to purely outrun other draw engines/ramp engines/damage sources.

This deck plays control for a couple turns without losing card advantage, ramps hard, and then plays hard denial until it can win. It plays premium removal for both nonland permanents and nonbasic lands, two characteristics I find refreshing for my EDH experience. I just wish I could play more Ruination s, but From the Ashes proved too weak.

Our typical win condition is large bursts of damage via big copied damage spells like Banefire and Comet Storm , but we can also use things like Blue Sun's Zenith and Stroke of Genius if we can alpha-mill players later in the game when it's relevant. Damage is the typical route here because, unless the deck plays a significant amount of lifegain constantly, damage can be dealt in between untap steps as the player sees fit (and if a power-play like an ill-timed Gray Merchant of Asphodel shows up, we have a counter ready).
