My first deck when I learned how to play in highschool. Thinking about making small adjustments here and there lately, maybe adding a sideboard or something. I am not good at descriptions so let's jump right to it.
This deck is Onslaught legal, in the sense that it is comprised of 7th Edition, Odyssey, and Onslaught.
The main goal is to ramp hard quickly with Elvish Guidance and start dropping the deck by turn five or six with the Slate of Ancestry and a swing for game.
Quite a few ways to do tons of damage here; Taunting Elf mixed with the Elvish Champion if when the artifacts are not out yet; Voice of the Woods, Crush of Wurms, and Heedless One for some big creatures; Coat of Arms buffing up all the elves and insects dropped by the Wirewood Hivemaster.
I don't run spell buffs like Wirewood Pride or stuff like the Timberwatch Elf because back then stuff like the Goblin Sharpshooter were really devastating to go up against I had to find a hard counter, once I got my hands on a few Steely Resolves it made those things almost pointless.
Things I used to run:
-Wellwisher worked great when I was new but as the years went on I found myself only tapping them for either mana with Birchlore Rangers or tapping them for the Voice of the Woods and rarely, if never, for the actual health gain.
-Elvish Vanguard ended up being so underwhelming it hurt, just like the Wellwisher he ended up being just another elf to tap for mana or for tokens. I replaced him with the Hivemaster to produce more things to attack and block with and more synergy with the Coat of Arms, basically same mana cost with out all the suck and +1/+1 counter tracking.
-Timberwatch Elf were fun and awesome but when I had to start playing Steely Resolves to stop the pings, burns, and bounces it prevented me from target buffing my elves so I had to put them aside. I tried to keep them to at least target the Wurms or Elementals but once I realized that 3 6/6 Wurms and a Taunting Elf really doesn't need a buff when all I need to do with to help swing with 2 more damage.
-Wirewood Herald, great if you are running Timberwatch Elf because people don't like blocking him or if you want a blocker but 99% of the games the damn things never died and I don't run anything to target buff him.
And that is all I can think of that the moment, thanks for checking out my old deck.
