In your combo description, how do you come up with the to cast Myr Moonvessel? You already used up your from Darkslick Shores and the from Simian Spirit Guide. Unless I'm just derping especially hard today and you explained it all perfectly in the description...

canterlotguardian the Heartless Summoning makes that free, and since it automatically goes to the graveyard once it hits the battlefield, you get . Then you use that to cast Altar of the Brood. The Myr Retrievers are now free to cast as well.

i gotta say this is a pretty neat not "just-one-specific-hand-to-win" adaptation of Heartless Summoning.usually theyre pretty feeble but this looks kinda fun..like you could actually play a game with it!haha id like to see how competitive this deck is!i honestly cant really tell, ive barely ever used any of these cards, and definitely not like this

although you mentioned taking out the Simian Spirit Guide to make it more competitive, but from playtesting Havengul Lich seems redundant and a lot less impactful than the R the spirit guide can toss out. have you played this deck against others? is the lich worth it?

I'd drop the Court Hussars in favor of Mulldrifter and drop the Idyllic Tutors in favor of Muddle the Mixture. This cuts a color plus about $30 and lets you use Muddle to either counter a spell or search out any other 2 drops.

I'd also sub in a Myr Superion instead of one of the Deathbringer Thoctars. You only need one of each; Deathbringer is redundant in multiples once you infinite-combo and being able to search out Myr Superion with a Muddle the Mixture is great for answering all of those 4/4s out there.

Thanks wolfhead! Honestly this is just the beggining stages of this deck so I'm still making some changes before I pull the trigger on buying it.

I like having Havengul Lich because from my testing, k haven't gotten enough replay from my graveyard. The only card to be able to do that without it is Myr Retriever. It also gives me another win con, having a Myr Moonvessel will give me another way to infinite mill if the other route doesn't work.

I'm still testing it though, so I might just end up agreeing with you and taking it out.

Moshanyana those all are great suggetions. As you can see I already applied most of them, thanks! Muddle the Mixture is going to really speed this deck up!

Drowned Catacomb with only 8 shocks is pretty awful :/ I would add fetches, you really need them, my friend plays a version of this deck and has made it pretty competitive but it doesn't run SSG has he takes out a lot of consistency and runs mulldrifters and thirst for knowledge

Working on the same deck idea. Heartless Summoning might just be my favorite card to build around. I'd cut the Grim Haruspex. I tried it and it ended up being just a wasted turn. Adding Snapcaster Mage is a great idea and its working out for me. If the combo isn't on the field it gives you a little extra control. I think you might have too many creatures. I'm approaching mine kind of like twin players approach there combo. Control spells. I tried BuG control, but adding 3 colors took away from what I wanted to do. Anyways great idea, just a few thoughts.

I dig this. Cruel way to win in EDH too.

You could use the first Myr Retriever to bring back Myr Moonvessel. This would give you enough mana to summon Junk Diver instead, which could be easier than having two retrievers in your hand.

I love it i am ordering a few cards to build this the most expensive cards on the list are serum visions and simian spirit guide. Great deck i love gimics or screw ball combo decks especially on a budget.

Oh wow.

I actually really like this. And I'm usually not fond of combo. Maybe as another said a grapeshot for another win con?

Golem's Heart is a great lock-down card. It doesn't win the game, but it guarantees you won't lose to any conventional damage deck like RDW, Affinity, Soul Sisters, etc. Best part is that Muddle the Mixture can tutor for Heartless Summoning, the Myr Retrievers, and Golem's Heart; whatever part of the combo you're missing, they can get you.

I built a variant of this archetype that uses 4x Muddle the Mixture, 4x Dimir Infiltrator, and sideboards 4x Shred Memory against recursion decks like Melira Pod. These are all tutors that give you additional and not-insignificant options. Gives the deck a much more tool-box feel. Tutoring for Shrivel can shut down 1/1 token decks. Go for the Throat or Doom Blade can shut down single-threat decks. Or if your opponent is stalled out on mana or because of your actions, tutor for your combo and win! Still a glass-cannon, but one that can be pointed at the rocks being thrown at it in a pinch.

Love this deck! Threw it together for FNM tonight. Went 0-3, but one a game each round where I was able to combo off. No one had any idea what the combo was or how it worked until their deck was milled. Only exception was I was minus Myr Superion,Serum Visions, and Havengul Lich. Like the idea of Grapeshot and new DTK enchantment Impact Tremors. Gonna keep working on it.

Javaz great suggestion. I'll take that over one of my Trinket Mages to add yet another win con, thanks!

Kenny_Steadfast thanks for sharing that! It's good to see this deck get some action!

Moshanyana thanks, I haven't worked much on a sideboard but you defintely are on a good track so I think I'll follow! I added a few cards from your suggestions.

Tohrmal that's good to hear! Haha. I've been going back and forward with Grapeshot.. I'm still not sure if it's just redundant at this point or if it would work better than Impact Tremors.still deciding!
