Your goal is to get out dragons before your opponent plays something comparable. Since Monsters decks played Stormbreath and occasionally Atarka, World Render pre-DTK some of the fatties were already established. Dragonlord Atarka is both a dragon, a fantastic body and effective removal in one card and extremely good in nearly all matchups. This would be included even without dragon synergy. Mystic+Caryatid are the ramp package, Courser helps you hit your drops and keep up the life total early. Finally, Thunderbreak Regent makes all opposing removal more costly and is an excellent value creature. Atarka, World Render + Xenagos, God of Revels can make a 1-shot kill if you're lucky.
