How about Elvish Piper to cheat stuff into play?

@rynonator:Piper was originally in here, but as I was struggling to cut things, she just didn't seem like a safe enough investment. In a deck with tutoring, she's a huge target. The only reason Quicksilver Amulet is still in there is because artifact removal is less common and it isn't hit by most board wipes. If there was a legendary version of Piper/Amulet, I'd make space in a heartbeat. I might put her in the sideboard though to be part of the Living Wish package though as she is a great card, but sadly one that gets worse the bigger the game is due to the frequency of board wipes.

Any suggestions as to what I could remove to get down to 100 cards though?

Hi,

why no Dragonlord Dromoka?

I love it in my build. Check it out if you prefer...

and +1 from me.... I forgot :-)

I totally forgot about the newer legends, and Dromoka does seem like a nice balance between beater and utility, while also not being super expensive. Just need to figure out what to remove for him, preferably another high drop to preserve the curve(dat rhyme). Any suggestions?

Iona, Shield of Emeria would be my pick. Its expensive and I play EDH casual with friends. I don't what them to hate me and stop playing vs. my deck. :-)

Ok, Iona has been suggested to remove by two people now so I think I'll drop her into the Living Wish sideboard to make room for Dromoka. That seems for fitting as I rarely use her unless I really need to end the game or I have a hunch someone is about to infinite combo off. But having the ability to shout "NO" at someone running a jankier deck than mine is too good to give up entirely :P

Thanks for the help :)

Solid deck. +1!

HeroInMyOwnMind Thanks a bunch :)

I actually looked at your Sisay deck to get a few ideas. I had originally wanted to go a heavy artifact route with lots of legendary artifacts, but I build way too many artifact themed decks so I decided to go a bit outside my comfort zone of Esper/Artifacts.

Ultramegalord I had those three in originally, but I felt like spending 3 turns to get them was a bit too much setup, especially since if I want to tutor and equip the Shield(which is what I'd almost always search up first), it takes 8 mana to play and equip. That's a lot more mana intensive than searching up Yavimaya Hollow and playing it as my land drop then just sitting on 1-2 . All in all, those pieces require 12 colorless mana to merge together. For 11 mana, I could Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite + Living Plane their lands, or for 10 mana I could make an infinite Mindslaver lock on one person. They're just too slow, especially since I need to get Sisay out as quickly as possible to get her ability rolling.

If the pieces were just a little cheaper to play and equip, they'd be auto-included, but they really don't fit well into the curve. Which makes me sad because the promos for those three are awesome IMO T_T

Thanks for the suggestions though!

okay this is great deck with a bunch of great cards in it, I have a similar general for my EDH deck (Momir Vig, Simic Visionary) so I generally can tell how this runs, I like this deck a lot but I would include a few cards in it starting with Craterhoof Behemoth: seeing as you put particular emphasis on Living Plane it seems like it would be a perfect fit. A card I would put in simply because of flavor reasons with the name of this deck would be Mother of Runes. The following cards are legends I think would fit in nicely if you can make the space for them, first Chorus of the Conclave second Darien, King of Kjeldor, he is a HUGE deterrent third Day of Destiny it is legendary and it pumps legends, what more can you ask? fourth Elbrus, the Binding Blade  Flip when this card tranforms you have a near assured victory, no questions asked just protect him and you win fith Honden of Cleansing Fire if you run both shrines you will get a turnly advantage that will eventually become a win sixth Honden of Life's Web making that token army you have always wanted seventh Jazal Goldmane an AMAZING recently printed card that doesnt get a lot of love eighth Masako the Humorless for next level trolling ninth Myojin of Cleansing Fire tenth Reki, the History of Kamigawa for all dem legends. That is all for now, maybe I will post more suggestions if I feel like it but this is fine for now. Remember that these are suggestions if you don't like it don't do it

potatopotatopotato Thanks for all the suggestions :)

Some of those cards actually were in this deck initially and just got cut at one time or another. Some because they just didn't alter the board state enough to assure victory or didn't fit into the toolbox category. If I had a more reliable way to tutor up Living Plane, Jazal Goldmane and Craterhoof Behemoth would be a shoe-in, but apart from when LP is out, I rarely have more than 2-3 creatures at a time in order to minimize my losses and appear less threatening.

As for Masako and Reki, I had wanted to include both of them originally, but they just didn't do enough for me the turn they came into play, especially seeing as other 3 drops I could tutor up could remove permanents or prevent all combat damage to my creatures. Reki was really hard to justify cutting since he's so awesome for cycling, but I figure with a tutor general, the safest place for my legendaries when they're not in play is in my library.

That said, I am planning on making a more token driven themed version of this deck once I acquire all these, and Jazal, Masako, Darien, Craterhoof and the Hondens will definitely go in now, so thanks :D

Also, I don't think I can run Elbrus, the Binding Blade  Flip since it is black once it flips, and therefore not in the color identity anymore. I wish I could though.

Thanks again for the suggestions, totally forgot about the Hondens and I definitely want them in the token variant of this deck I'm making.

April 24, 2015 5:35 p.m.

Ive checked the thing with elbrus before and you can run it for 2 resons, 1 being there are no black mana symbols and 2. There is some obscure rule that says the color identity thing is for the face you cast it with

Necrotize says... #18

That is what I originally thought, but all rules searches regarding this card and EDH show that Withengar is considered to have the "This card is black" reminder text because the background of the card is black. If he was colorless he'd have the same background as the blade. Additionally, he is listed on the gatherer as a black creature. All examples seem to use Civilized Scholar  Flip, but the rulings are all the same, you need blue and red to run him, and therefore need black to run Elbrus.

April 25, 2015 10:13 a.m.

Oh, thanks for the clarification, this means I wont have to deal with a mono blue deck getting him out every game, thanks!!

April 25, 2015 10:22 a.m.

Oh and one final card to add would be a Boseiju, Who Shelters All

April 25, 2015 10:25 a.m.

+1, cuz that song, which I'm guessing you named your deck after, is totally awesome.

P.S.: Have you considered Reki, the History of Kamigawa? It seems like a great addition.

Hashtag-Netdeck Thanks for the +1!

Reki was considered, but I feel like he encourages me to dump my hand when I really shouldn't. Also on a more meta specific note, I play against a lot of people that have discard and peek effects, so unless I'm playing the cards, the safest place for my legendaries is usually in the deck. Plus I was having trouble fitting in all the cards I like and Reki just got cut somewhere along the line. Thanks for the suggestion though, I'll try playing around with him in deck for a while to see if the draw power is helpful enough to warrant a slot.

Any suggestions as for what might be cut? That's always the hardest part for me.

Heroes' Podium and Time of Need would both be great in this deck.
